After the rumored NVIDIA Shield Tablet appeared in a Global Certification Forum database earlier this month, we were curious to see what NVIDIA had up their sleeves for the upcoming gaming tablet. Today, we may finally have our first look.

Rumored to usher in the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, there’s no question the tab would be able to handle Android’s current crop of high-end games. But how will the thing look? Well, @evleaks is once back again doing the honors, presenting an alleged press shot for the upcoming tablet. In the render, you’ll notice stereo front facing speakers housed in what could be an aluminum body. Other than that, well, there’s really not much else.

Evleaks mentions the tablet is due out sometime this year (2014), but no word on exact timing of release. It was only a year ago NVIDIA launched their Shield handheld to lackluster sales. We suppose now is a good time as any to introduce something new. We’re sure to learn more about the NVIDIA Shield Tablet as the weeks progress, so stay tuned.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. Presumed it would have a game pad integrated, so it’s just a normal tablet? Meh.

  2. I’m hoping it has some sort of gamepad addon. If so I’m sold (actually in need of a new tablet after my Nexus 7 met an unfortunate end), otherwise I will have to think about it. I have the Shield right now and really love it, I just always long for a bigger screen so this would be perfect for me….if it has a game pad. Touch screen controls are just trash for anything other than casual games.

    1. i take this is taken directly from nvidia marketing slide. the actual release will be less than a week:
