All new HTC One 2014 shows up on eBay, gets snatched up for just $500

HTC One 2014 Verizon eBay

When it rains, it pours. That’s exactly what seems to be happening with “the all new” HTC One 2014 today after numerous leaks have begun springing up from the woodwork. The latest leak is a bit more unexpected, with the Verizon Wireless version HTC One 2014 allegedly popping up on eBay. The phone was quickly snatched up by one lucky opportunist for just $500. Nuts.

The listing was able to provide us with our first ever real look at the packaging, with the back of the box listing off the some specs and hardware features we can expect when the phone officially hits store shelves later this year. It also confirms that the phone might in fact simply be called “HTC One,” with HTC using “all new” for marketing purposes (guess we’ll stick with HTC One 2014 then). For those that are finding the text on the box a little difficult to read, here’s what it’s listing off:

  • Platform: Android with HTC Sense
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 2.3GHz quad-core CPUs
  • SIM card type: nanoSIM
  • Memory: Storage 32GB / RAM 2GB DDR2, Extended memory microSD up to 128GB
  • Display: 5-inch 1080p Full HD
  • Sound: HTC BoomSound, dual front stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers
  • Camera: Duo Camera with UltraPixel, BSI sensor, pixel size 2.0um, F2.0 / 28mm lens, HTC ImageChip2 with HDR video, Front camera: 5MP BSI, wide angle lens with HDR capability, 1080p video recording, HTC Zoe
  • Connectivity: 3.5mm stereo audio jack and microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX enabled, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS/AGPS + GLONASS, NFC, 4G LTE capable

Have to say, we’re a little jealous we didn’t get to the phone first. We’d have gladly paid $500 for a chance at owning this device early. Looking like this thing is nearly all but official now. Anyone happy with what they’re seeing so far?

  1. God that thing looks nice.

    1. That’s what she said!

  2. I’m not buying it, that listing didn’t acutally show the device.

    1. Well if you are selling something as brand new in box then you don’t take the device out of the packaging just to take a picture of it now do you? No, you just take a picture of the box.

      1. You actually can and still get away with it. You can state that the box was opened to check for contents and no one would make a fuss of it. I do it at work all the time.

        1. I hate to say this (because you have a good point) but some people are so nutty that they don’t want to buy something unless it’s vacuum-packed, sealed and guarded by a wolverine.

          1. Or Magneto!

          2. Awesome! The funny thing is that a wolverine and the Wolverine came to mind when I commented that.

          3. I’m already aware of that, as well. We’ve dealt with customers exactly like that. They only made a fuss of it because they failed to read the auction (obviously) where it stated the box was opened to check contents.

We open all of our new phone boxes before listing them on eBay since we had one of our distributors sell us a poorly refurbished iPhone as new, factory sealed. We didn’t check it and the customer who received it stated the screws were sticking out the bottom.

    2. Unless the seller has been padding their reviews, they have a stellar review record thus far. The listing doesn’t seem to indicate anything like “dummy unit” or “box only” like a lot try to do. So we’ll see in due time.

  3. Imma just wait. Ever since I heard of goophone I’m not giving 2 craps about early speculations

    1. Phones for slime people? Hmm, gooey!

  4. Looks legit. So 5MP front cam. How many MP on the back? Surely not 4MP…again….

    1. This is why I’m questioning whether this is valid. Why would the box call out the front camera pixel count but not also list the rear camera pixel count?

      1. Because if its 4UP its not good promotion. General consumers don’t know much, so stating that its ultrapixel and leaving out the number is smart.

    2. i hope the updated ultrapixel is greater than 4MP!

  5. I heard it was a VZW dummy device unless this is a different one.

Edit: This does appear to be a different one.

  6. Good luck getting it hooked up to Verizon before they launch. In the past new phones that showed up before street date would not work until after.

  7. $500…. Can it even be activated? Seems a waste to me.

  8. #risky

    1. #makemoneyfuckbitches

  9. Seems like HTC is trying awfully hard to stay relevant since they have been losing money lately.

    1. yea if it was an ATT or TMO version I’d disagree but it’s common knowledge a VZW version of anything won’t be released until dead last..Somebody spent more than $500 to even get this out and online.

    2. What do you expect them to do? Just give up?

      1. No, I expect them to get it together and get creative. Stop coming up with same design again and again. Boom sound (not new) ultrapixel (not new), 3D/dual rear camera (not new)same physical design outside with the line across up top.

        1. Same design meaning the rounded rectangle? Front facing speakers are amazing, and I don’t know why more phone manufacturers haven’t adopted this. Ultrapixel is meh. 3D camera will flop just as hard as it did with the Evo 3D. The HTC One was the nicest feeling phone I had…have you ever held one? I wouldn’t change the shape of it either.

  10. my body is ready…. take me Peter Chou!

    1. *Peter Chou comes fluttering in dressed like a cherub and coked out of his mind*

      1. He walks in all hyped-up and yells: “Where my fanboys at?”

      2. I guess you could say… HTC bit off more than they can Chou. (CSI Miami music plays)

        1. You just gonna keep posting that joke?

      3. For some reason…

        1. this comes to mind…

  11. Anybody here know if DDR3 is significantly better than DDR2 RAM on a 32bit OS with a chip like the SD 801?

    1. Doesn’t the gs4 come with ddr3 ram? Anyway if it does it then also comes with an overclocked s600 and it still runs slower than the current One with a stock s600 with ddr2 ram. So to answer your question, in the real world you won’t be able to tell the difference.

    2. On a fully fledged computer you would. Especially if you’re doing heavy tasks that tax the CPU and the ram. But no one generally uses their phone to such a level.

  12. I’m really starting to feel bad for HTC at this point :/

  13. This is kind of like steal if is 500 knowing verizon will see the 4 like 650 without contract…

    1. Buyer must have BEZELLIONS………

Thank you I’m here all week.

      1. I see what you did there.

      2. HTC seems to have bitten off more than they can Chou with this device.

  14. You guys seem like such tools calling it “The All New HTC One™” every time you mention it. Look at the box. “The All New” isn’t on there. Stop marking out so much! :P

    1. Is it new, or isn’t it? Lol

      1. If people disagree about what a device will even be called long before it’s released

You’re gonna have a bad time

        1. You should be a stand up comedian with those over used memes.

          1. If you’re on the internet and you don’t like memes, you’re gonna have a bad time.

          2. (slow clap)

          3. I hate them because people over use them to the point where they aren’t funny.

  15. Is this suppose to the actual boxing for the phone? if I look closely it looks like a cardboard poster with product info. Kind of like the cardboard posters at Costco when you go buy gift cards.

  16. Anything on battery?

    1. 2600 I believe.

  17. Wait!! 5MP front facing camera? Am I reading that correctly!?

    1. Yep. It’s a beast too!

    2. I know right, I can’t wait to take selfies!

  18. great publicity stunt by htc

  19. well I was an early adopter of the One on TMO , absolutely loved the phone , and I will be at the T MO store First Day It’s Available………….I currently Own The N5 and Note 3, and really Miss my ONE.: ) Cmon HTC Bring It………………….

    1. I’m all for new technology, but I have no idea how people like you can justify buying a Nexus 5, a Note III, and an HTC One.

      1. I can, I have an HTC One, note 2, LG G2 and a 2012 Nexus 7

        1. but whats your justification? do you actually use 4 phones?

  20. Miracle that it happens to be VZW given their recent history. Way to NOT bring up the rear all the time big red!

  21. MicroSD <3

    1. *boiiiiiiiing*

  22. My Next Phone :)

  23. Wait til you get a hold of that camera. Bricks will be sh!t I assure you.
I had the evo 3d but this is a much smarter way to implement it!
