Google Play Music All Access IO 2013

Many folks the world over have been waiting for Google to bring Google Play Music All Access. They’d already made a pretty decent push into Europe before, and now that list is being bolstered with the addition of over half a dozen new countries. Here’s the quick, short list:

  • Finland
  • Switzerland
  • Russia
  • Netherlands
  • Czech Republic
  • Hungary
  • Liechtenstein

It’s worthy to note that folks in the likes of Germany and even Canada have yet to see the service launch. That last one is especially weird considering it’s the hat of America, though things might be a bit more complicated than that. Specifically, Canada’s restrictive copyright system might be giving Google a tough time when it comes to setting up licensing deals.

We obviously don’t know the specifics of their struggles in every country yet to get Google Play Music, so all we can do is sit, wait and hope that those issues get ironed out before too long. If you live in one of the aforementioned countries, give All Access a try and let us know how it’s working out for you.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  4. When something like this is coming to Russia before it comes to Germany, that’s a clear indication of how big and powerful Russia is on the technological stage and the world stage.

    1. It is more an indication that Germany has with GEMA a much “loved” music rights organisation.

It has an effective monopoly in Germany and wants inflated prices from Google (i.e. quite a lot of Youtube videos are block in Germany because their music), so no All Access for Germany so far…

  5. I’m still waiting for this to happen in Canada. I’ve got a Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 and this would be icing on the cake

  6. I wish Google Canada would let us know what specific licensing/copyright issues they are having in Canada. This is really annoying and flat out ridiculous that we don’t have it yet, I don’t blame Google but I would like to know what Canadian bodies specifically are the hold up. Is it all music rights groups, or governmental bodies too? Which ones? Essentially I’m looking for where I can direct my disgruntled letters and e-mails to :P haha. It blows my mind that I’m being restricted the choice of where I can purchase music in this digital age.

  7. I’m more interested in when movies and devices become available in Belgium. :-)
We have music, and not so long ago got access to books, but I want movies too. And I want to be able to order a nexus device directly if I choose to want to do that.
