While Motorola hasn’t disclosed actual sales figures, Moto CEO Dennis Woodside went on the record with Reuters today, mentioning that the company’s new Texas facility is currently churning out a whopping 100,000 Moto X per week. That might not be “Apple/Samsung status”, but it’s great for a company brave enough to operate in the US, no matter the capacity.

Today was also the day that Motorola celebrated the grand opening of their new Fort Worth factory, shutting down operations for a few hours during the festivities. Guests in attendance included Google’s Chairman Eric Schmidt and even Texas Governor Rick Perry, who can be seen snapping a few pics with his fresh-off-the-assembly-line Moto X. If you’re curious to take a tour of Motorola’s new factory — where they employ more than 2,500 workers (and are currently hiring) — you can now take a peek inside via Google Maps Street View. How fun.

  1. still not worth the price they are asking

    1. Moto X is a very smooth lag free phone. We need to see more of that in Android

      1. Carrier Bloatware is not nonsense. There are specific devices where it is extremely minimal. However, the vast majority are still heavily loaded with carrier specific apps. Once these apps are frozen, better removed, you immediately begin to realize just how crippling they are.

        1. Ive rooted and ROM’d every phone Ive had. My current (S3) is on CM. It runs extremely smooth! I cant install just one app thats written crappy and can tell right away. Battery drain, lag, etc. Once removed, the phone runs great again. Only happens once and a while

        2. No, the criticism is that Android itself is bloated therefore it is laggy. Kitkat should give android a lower memory footprint but that’s not how they got a lag free phone here.
More stuff isn’t the problem-poorly coded stuff is.

      2. The GS4 and the ONE are also both lag free phones and have more under the hood then this phone.

    2. Its worth more than say the S4 which is bloated and laggy. I have yet to see the moto x lag or slow down; unlike the S4. Once you experience the active notifications there is no going back. Love the phone.

      1. The S4 lags on occasion but overall it’s a pretty smooth device. I actually prefer it to my Nexus 4 now.

If you like the Moto X you might as well get the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 is a smooth device but is hundreds of dollars cheaper than the Moto X.

        1. Nah I have both..go with the moto x..

          1. You’ll save a ton of money with the Nexus 4.

          2. Anyone that chooses this crap over a nexus has issues.

        2. Id go with the Nexus as well, not this POS.

        3. Minus LTE and the ability to get it on Verizon or Sprint.

          1. I really don’t miss LTE. Neither of my phones – the S4 or Nexus 4 has it.

      2. You clearly never used an S4.

    3. Agreed, especially since its a mid level POS with a gay name.

  2. Can’t get one here in the UK so I guess I’ll have to wait and see what the Nexus has to offer.

  3. Im proud of Google for building that thing here in the US giving Americans jobs. I was a little shocked when I saw the $599 price tag (for tmobile at least) but id pay the extra $100 it seems, if that brings manufacturing back to the States.

  4. if I can trade my s4 to motox I would do it now its a great phone

  5. Everyone was so upset when the specs were released on this phone. Mostly because of the processor. Glad to see the phone is smooth as butter and it is turning out to be a great device.

  6. motox has 4 cores for graphics, I tested it against my s4 it is actually better than it, maybe touchwiz has some lag issue, I would get motox if I wasn’t on contract

    1. It may have 4 cores but theyre not all for graphics you boob. I hate this phone and even i know that. Stay in school, youre gonna need it for that job at McDonalds.

  7. The X seems to be a great phone, it clearly matches up well to the s4, One and N4. I just wish it had an microSD slot. then I’d be sold. For now I’ll stick with my s3.

    1. You use a lot of weird words in your statement “seems” indicates you really dont know. “clearly” is another one of those words that says you read a lot of reviews that say it matches up well, honestly it doesnt. Stick with your S3 or get and S4 or a ONE, you’ll be better off. Tried this phone out and it is not as good as either the ONE or the S4.

      1. Obviously you haven’t tried this phone out. The X is on par (or even better) in real world tasks than the One or S4. Point and case:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmU7YKoC5Is

and there are many other such reviews out there that come to the same conclusions

        1. I own a ONE, my wife has a GS4. We both tried out the phone, we both agreed it doesnt compare. I dont need biased reviews to tell me what to think. I used the device and it wasnt as good as what i have already, plus it was smaller, and felt cheaper. That was my “conclusion”.

          1. Well! If you and your wife agree then that must be the truth for the rest of the planet. You don’t need biased reviews to “tell you what to think.” But you seem to think that you must tell everyone else what to think based on your personal preference. You also seem to think that your personal preference is a barometer for sales figures. I would think Moto’s market research is more in depth than just you and your wife.

Some people like broccoli and some people don’t. Some people like laggy plastic phones with unnecessary never used features, some people don’t. Some people like being able to pick colors on their phone and don’t care if its not 1080p or such, and some people don’t. The moral is, people like what THEY like.

          2. Guess you cant read too well. I was responding to the opinion that the X is on par or better than the GS4 or the ONE. Thats an opinion. Its not fact. I was stating me and my wifes opinion, based on using all devices. Got it so far ? I dont want you to get lost. Everyone on this board is telling “everyone else what to think” based on their own opinions. Still with me ? Your moral is people like what they like, right ?? Well we like what we like, you like what you like. Apparently the only opinion accepted here is one that agrees with everyone elses. Because basically youre telling me if i dont agree with the majority in this forum then im wrong. And you have the nerve to say me and my wives opinion count for the whole planet, apparently not because it seems your opinion does. If thats not the pot calling the kettle black, i dont know what is. MOTO research ? I guess they discovered that the majority of people that use phones are dumbasses and dont care about specs or features. That ignorance should not be forced on the rest of us that like high end specs and features that are fun to use, even if they dont get used alot. I cant wait till this phone never gets updates on a timely basis, just like the Droid series.

        2. First thing I noticed was that the HTC booted up much faster

      2. You are correct in that I haven’t had the chance to use a Moto X yet however I have tinkered with the S4 and the One, I wasn’t really happy with the user experience with either compared to my s3. It just feels like too much present on the S4 and I lost interest in Sense a while ago, the new version didn’t to much to turn me from my previous opinion of it having started with HTC when I first joined the Android community.

  8. I guess theyre gonna be disappointed when they dont sell.

  9. Looks like my dream job..

  10. Wish them well, God knows we need more jobs here in the USA.

  11. I live in Arlington… I wonder if they give tours.

  12. “Yes Rick, it is a camera and a phone, and can surf the internet. No, the internet is NOT “a series of tubes” like the GOP thinks its is”.

    Ooops.
