HTC One Max sits side-by-side with One, One Mini; might have a fingerprint scanner

Wondering what the HTC One Max might look like up against some of its siblings? The guys over at ePrice have given us just that, with the big version of HTC’s 2013 flagship sitting side by side with the HTC One Mini and the original granddaddy HTC One. It’s quite the interesting comparison. The size discrepancy between the HTC One and Mini was so small you might mistake one for the other.

On the other hand, the HTC One Max is just on a completely different level of its own. The staggering differences shouldn’t end there, though, as we hear this thing should be coming with a Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16-32GB of internal storage, a 3,300mAh battery and more.

The device has an odd-looking black square sitting on the back. The source mentions that’s actually a fingerprint scanner, something that isn’t that common in today’s smartphones (but looks to be changing with each passing moment). It’ll be interesting if that finger print scanner will eventually double as a power button, something LG decided to do with the recently announced LG G2.

In any case, the HTC One Max is poised to be one of the most capable phablets in the game, and we can’t wait to see how this bad boy performs once it launches later this year.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

Minuum Keyboard officially makes its Google Play Store debut, but is it worth $4?

  1. Thats a big ass phone
nice to see the back looks like its removable as well… cant wait to try the Max out

    1. Doesn’t look remotely removable to me…

      1. really? the back looks detachable to me, you can see the edges of the back door

        1. I think you are correct. I myself, see the edges of the back cover on the sides.

    2. I don’t want a removable battery. I had to replace my battery 4 times in my E4GT, and all I hear about with people with their S3 is, “Oh, my battery died and it was easy to buy another one” or something similar.

I don’t want to buy more batteries. Non-removable batteries are designed to last longer. So I don’t have to go through that hassle.

And the thing is people are like they have 2 batteries and if one dies they still have the spare. Well if one died within that 2 years, that means that battery would have lasted less than a year since you’re switching between 2 batteries. So no. I’ve lost faith in removable batteries.

      1. >Non-removable batteries are designed to last longer

        Source?

      2. Im not really worried about removable battery, but I know alot of ppl like to have that– and throw hissyfits when a phone doesnt have it.

I was referring to the sd slot that could be on board. I dont really HAVE to have one of those either, but I have a few extra sd cards that would be perfect in a One Max…

      3. i’m pretty sure when people talk about their battery dying they mean during the day from heavy usage…i don’t think anybody’s talking about the battery not working…well at least i haven’t heard anything like that…

  2. I knew the One max was going to be huge but damn, seeing it next to the one just makes me want to laugh. Anyway, I will be getting either this or the note 3.

    1. Yeah that’s extremely huge compared to the HTC One… I hope this isn’t the actual size

  3. I don’t understand the appeal of the powerbutton fingerprint scanner. I had it on my Atrix and used it about 4 times just to see if it works. It’s a good party trick, but the button location doesn’t really do much for me. Nor does the fingerprint scanner…

  4. I won’t get it if it has a fingerprint scanner, they’re pointless.

    1. You don’t have to use the scanner. LoL!!

      1. I know

        1. The LG Expo had a fingerprint scanner that worked as a trackpad as well.

That would be nice. For moving through text.

          1. Had that on the Atrix too. I hated it because when I was holding the phone it would pick up movement from my hand even though I wasn’t doing anything. There was something else too… it was either oversensitive (and you couldn’t tone it down enough) or very choppy.

          2. The LG Expo wasn’t all that sensitive. I had to use a bit force. Which was perfectly fine with me.

The HTC G2 had a trackpad. That was kinda find with me. I’d prefer the trackball on the Nexus One, though. Now I’d love to see that come back. LoL!!

          3. The LG Expo sucks

          4. Yes. As an overall experience it wasn’t that great of a phone. I also didn’t get to try the Pico Projector.

Since it was a windows phone it came with support for WMA files, which is what I had at the time for my music, and had Word, Powerpoint and Excel. So it was the first phone I was able to write my homework with on the go. And the physical keyboard helped. LoL!!

That phone helped me realize that I loved physical keyboards. Which is why I loved the HTC G2 and I’m patiently waiting for the HTC G3. LoL!!

    2. so you won’t get a device simply because it has an unobtrusive feature that you dont have to use?

      1. It’s not so unobtrusive…

      2. I think I will get iPhone 5S as Apple at least know what they’re doing. They’re gonna use it in the correct way.

        1. apple know what they doing? LOL they been copying HTC and android for the last year. the new cheap iphones have more cheap plastic than samsung people talk about samsung plastic. well samsung plastic is awesome compare to the apple plastic

          1. Lol bûtthurt much? samsung, goofle and the rest copy Apple.

          2. tell me how Google copies Apple. I know Samsung does, but tell me, how does Google? Please elaborate.

    3. why? it’s pretty awesome if you ask me. why the hell would you not want it? don’t want your thumb cut off?

  5. Here’s to hoping it’s a tracking pad… I have the ONE and while reading this article I used my index finger as if it was there.. and yeah, it just feels right..specially on a bigger device..

  6. SO anxious!

    1. Sweet 11:30…I love it when your talking dirty…

  7. And still not enough room for a micro SD card slot.

    1. Just curious. What would you use the additional space for ? I don’t usually fill up a 32 gig phone for a long time. Now with picture sync services and music streaming services, I don’t even come close. What would you put on it ?

      1. With a screen like this, It’s nice to be able to load a bunch of HD movies and/or TV shows along with photos, music, and HD video recordings from the camera. With all that loaded onto the SD card, you won’t have to worry about apps and carrier bloatware taking up space. It also makes for a nice thumb drive if necessary. Then there’s also the added bonus of security. If you drop your phone or if it stops working for whatever reason, you can be reasonably confident that the SD card is intact and functional. Also, a removable battery would be nice too since you can swap out a battery and not need to worry about battery life.

      2. The thing is, even if you don’t use an SD card slot, it doesn’t really hurt to add one for other people who will benefit.

Again, arguing that it will make it more expensive.. c’mon.. spending $700+ for a phone and still doesn’t have an SD card slot? The LG Optimus L9 sold for $150-$180 (brand new) no contract has an SD card slot.. NO EXCUSES!

    2. A lot of rumors say it will have a SD card slot, but I take all rumors with a grain of salt. We won’t know the true specs, storage options, or what it’ll really look like until it’s official.

  8. Could the fingerprint scanner be a quick unlock to a password or pattern locked phone?

  9. This thing is gonna be bananas as well as the Galaxy Note III. Ah, the Android choices…….though I do yearn for the update treatment Apple gives its phones. Nevertheless, this is a device many HTC fans (like myself) have been wanting-and waiting-to see since the Note II dropped last fall.

    1. That one of the problem with samsung no updates.I had both notes with next to no updates

  10. Ah my gah it’s huge! *voice in the background yells* “That’s what she said!”

  11. Next thing we know. APPLE is going too sue HTC or anyone with a finger sensor
