Amazon Kindle Fire HD coming to over 170 countries, Appstore expanding to more than 200

Kindle Fire HD - 7

Amazon has announced a major expansion for its Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets and the accompanying Android app ecosystem that it’s built through the Amazon Appstore. In addition to countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, a whole lot more countries will now be able to pre-order the device starting today. I’m talking to the tune of over 170. In addition to that, over 200 countries are now supported for buying and downloading apps in the Amazon Appstore.

Those are significant numbers and Amazon is pretty much blanketing the world at this point. The Kindle Fire HD series has been Amazon’s highest selling out of all products on Amazon.com. With today’s news, it doesn’t look like anything will knock the tablet off that top slot anytime soon.

As for those aforementioned apps, Amazon is putting two of its most popular premium apps up as the free paid apps of the day today and tomorrow. Folks can get Fruit Ninja for free today, while Cut the Rope: Experiments will be free tomorrow. These don’t offer terribly huge savings — they’re less than $1 each normally — but free is free. Get them while you can.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I love Amazon Prime, but hate not be able to watch Instant Videos on my Android device! Why does iOS get that but not Android? I have no reason to buy a Kindle Fire
