HTC Rezound and DROID Incredible 2 due “HTC Device Enhancement” upgrades

17

A couple of more Verizon devices have been lined up for software upgrades at some point soon. The HTC Rezound and the HTC DROID Incredible 2 both have new changelogs for an upgrade that will add “HTC Device Enhancements,” though the documents on Verizon’s site don’t go into detail about what these enhancements entail.

The DROID Incredible 2’s upgrade will be a mid-sized file coming in at about 4.5MB, and you can expect build number 6.04.605.07. The Rezound, on the other hand, is about 7MB, and its build number will be 3.14.605.13 once it makes its way to your device. Unfortunately there’s no way to tell when Verizon’s looking to issue the upgrades over-the-air, but history tells us we shouldn’t be waiting more than a week or two before folks start seeing that notification pop up like clockwork.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Hopefully battery life improvements..

    1. can’t improve on battery life with a bad battery.

    2. Meanwhile the Rezound is probably the thickest smartphone on the market, you would think the battery life would be tremendous. Just a poor design I guess.

  2. I’m hoping this is laying some groundwork for an ICS update. Yep, I still have the D Inc2 ’cause it is the “newest” phone that is still supported on my MVNO without major modding. #heinzcommercial

    1. lol, hashtag took me a moment :p

  3. Where the hell are is 4.1 or 4.2 for the rezound? The hardware is better than a GN. Screw you Verizon. This is why you are losing a family plan that is older than a decade. Well this and you screwing up the GN.

    1. actually HTCs fault.. don’t get all derp whiny about it. Poor WoW kids always nerdrage at the wrong people.

      1. How is it HTC’s fault? Verizon does not care about the updates so HTC does not do them. They sell the phones to Verizon so that is who they listen too.

      2. You make a lot of assumptions.

      3. It’s Verizon’s fault. They have to approve the updates. They would rather u buy a whole new phone than give u an update. That’s why I’m not going back to them once my contract is up.

  4. Just did an OTA check on my incredible 2 and was able to pull it down…no idea what is does though. Hopefully fixes the screen freezing.

  5. Pretty amusing both of these devices are from 2011 and are still running Gingerbread.

I still have the Dinc2, running a hacked together version of CM9 (no CM10 builds), and it’s actually a good phone, but I would NEVER recommend another HTC product or even Verizon Wireless for an Android customer due to lack of updates and quality issues.

    1. The Rezound got ICS middle of last year.

      1. Oh that’s good, and with the Thunderbolt just now getting a year old OS, I guess it’s just the Dinc2 that’ll never get it. Oh well, live and learn.

  6. Still rocking the rezound personally and have no issues, its really not very thick, even with a case. Battery life lasts easily a day and a half for me, sometimes 2 days. Verizon sucks on updates.. but theyre the fastest network and I’m still on an unlimited plan, can’t really complain.

  7. My Rezound is really banged up but still chugging along. I get a ton of errors when updating apps like “not enough space” type stuff even though I still have over a gig free on my external ram.

  8. updated. what it did, I have no idea!
