Galaxy Nexus no longer available for sale in the Play Store, Nexus Q removed from device lineup

26

Looking to score a deal on last year’s shiny new Galaxy Nexus? Well, don’t expect to pick one up from Google’s virtual store shelves as the device has been yanked, and most likely for good. No longer even listed along side Google’s device portfolio, even jumping onto the old listing for the device has it listed as, “no longer available for sale.” Dang, Google. Just like that, huh? But don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll see this little guy popping up in fire sale from various daily deal sites in no time, so there could still be hope. Question is, how much lower can they mark down an absurdly low $350? We’ll have to wait and see.

Another device removed from Google’s Nexus portfolio in the Play Store is the Nexus Q. One time sharing a spot next to the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, the Q was actually removed from the landing page last week, replaced by the Chromebook. While the Q hasn’t been completely removed from the Play Store just yet — we still fear the worst for Google’s magic 8 ball. Not that anyone will really miss it.

  1. I plan on selling my White G-Nexus for $200. Hopefully nobody is as crazy as I am and I can get it sold quickly. lol

    1. U willing to ship? and is it gsm?

    2. 200, huh? I was planning on putting mine up for about 125 or 150. Maybe I should start at 200 and see if I get any bites. O.o

      1. yeah definitely start at 200. I remember when the price of the gnexus dropped to 350. people were still selling it for $400-500 on amazon and ebay

  2. I still use my Nexus Q daily (actually 3 of them). My kids use it every day to play their music and watch Youtube videos with their friends and let their friends play music. It is a cool device. I just hope Google stands by their word and makes it better.

    1. But did you pay $300 for it??? Do you think it’s really worth that much?

      1. Chris i think google gave it for free to those who preordered it

        1. No, I know. Lol It was more of a rhetorical question. Like, no matter how much he likes it, he would have never paid 300 for it :p

          1. I paid $250 for one $200 for the other and the third was free. Yes, I would have paid $299. Google already had my credit card info and I was willing to be charged when I found out I would get one free. The other two I bought just after Google I/O off Ebay.

  3. I still want to have a Nexus Q. I like the features lineup, though if they add Google TV functionality, it would be a killer!

  4. Lol I love how when the Nexus devices got leaked early, Google still found a way to surprise us with new features although a small update and those insane prices, When the iDevices got leaked early the announcement became a snore fest. I’ll probably still have to hold on to my Gnex though considering the Nexus 4 doesn’t support Verizon bands. Wonder who will manufacture the Nexus 5 lol

  5. I’d like to say the Nexus Q was ahead of its time….I’d like to. o.o

On a brighter note, does anyone else think it’s really cool that “Nexus” and the devices affiliated with the name are beginning (just beginning, mind you) to become synonymous with Android? I actually had someone I know (who is not tech savvy) ask about the new Nexus phone…only he was talking about a GS3. (thank God he didn’t call it a Droid phone!)

    1. had someone call my g nex a droid today. It was a middle aged women. I let it slide.

      1. That I can let slide since you can technically shorten android to droid if you think about it.

    2. I don’t like to say that, because for $300 I expected it to do a lot more than what even my old DROID can still handle. Simply not ready, but ahead of its time? More like behind the times.

  6. I’m willing to sell my One X for $150 just to pick up the new Nexus.

    1. I’ll take that deal

    2. Same here. I’ll take it! :)

  7. I’m thinking about trading my Evo Lte to go back to a Galaxy Nexus. With the announcement of no Lte on the New Nexus I’m bumbed. I really want a Nexus device on Sprint and who knows when the Evo Lte will get J/B.??

  8. Honestly, I had completely forgotten the Nexus Q even existence until I read this article.

  9. i dont really know whats the point of nexus Q. get two speakers and plug in your phone = your mp3 players.

  10. Such a disappointment this was. This could have essentially been Google’s Nexus of Google TVs. Just too much money for so little functionality that I could already get from other things in my media center or just my phone.

  11. Goodbye friend.

  12. They plan to slice the Nexus Q in half to make those sweet wireless charger accessories.

  13. dayum they cutting the g-nex….

  14. Please don’t tank the Q Google.
