T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Hits The FCC As SGH-T779

3

Looks like T-Mobile will be adding an all new tablet to their 4G lineup, with the Samsung SGH-T779 passing through the FCC today. The FCC sketch reveals T-Mobile’s branding as well as the general dimensions of the device and yup, it’s looking like this will be T-Mo’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Can’t say how well T-Mobile’s branded tabs have been selling, apparently well enough to warrant a new edition. What say ye? Anyone currently have a T-Mobile tab in their possession and if you do, which model?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. I have the G-Slate and I love it to this day. It’s kind of sad because it came out around the time of the Xoom but the Xoom got all of the attention. The lcd screen on the xoom has washed out colors however while the G Slate has a nifty IPS screen so it was on par with the iPad in terms of clarity.

The 8.9 inch size was really nice too. When held vertically it was the best way to type on a tablet.

The worst part about it is that LG kept that thing on HONEYCOMB for crying out loud. That was their FLAGSHIP tablet. Even the international version (Optimus Pad) saw no future software updates even though it has the same hardware as the Xoom which has ICS now.
This wouldn’t bother me as much if there was a developer community for it. I would root to put ICS or Jelly Bean on there in a heart beat but there is NO dev support for it… I literally would have an easier time software modding an iPad.

  2. i have the SG Tab 7.0 Plus running ICS.

  3. Would love to have a bigger tablet, currently have the nexus 7, but would like a tablet I can go out with and have a good enough engine under the hood without getting a new contract, hence waiting for the padfone 2, just hoping that when the padfone 2 comes out it does so with pure android stock.
