Nexus 7 comes to Play Store in Spain, Germany, and France

8

After launching in the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK in July, the Nexus 7 is making its debut in mainland Europe. The Jelly Been slate is now available from the Google Play Store in Spain, Germany, and France. Pricing is set at €199 for the 8GB version of the tablet and €249 for 16GB, a bit pricier than the Nexus 7 is in the States but roughly equivalent to its cost in the UK. Google’s store shows a shipping time of three to five days.

We recently learned that the Nexus 7 could be hitting German retailers on September 3rd, though there has been no official confirmation on this. When Google’s tablet will hit other regions in Europe is not known at this time.

  1. The Nexus 7 is officially coming to Italy around the same time, see:

Although there are rumors of Play Store opening to more products (currently only Apps and Books), the Nexus 7 will be apparently available only through the ASUS retail network.

  2. It costs more, it is released later, it has less functionality (no google music officially, no google movies, magazines or books) and I am unsure whether we’ll get the 25$/euro giftcard as it ties into the Google Wallet app which is US-only.

Yeah…..I know I won’t get one anytime soon.
This US-only crap needs to stop or it should come with a price cut, not price increase!

EDIT: As pointed out, the 25$ was not a giftcard but credit towards your Google Play account. Not sure if it changes much. Still not sure whether the EU can benefit from it. Even if we can, most EU countries will only be able to spend it on games/apps

    1. The $25 that came with a Nexus 7 was a credit to your Google Play account. Not a giftcard.

      1. You’re absolutely right. Thanks for pointing it out!

    2. Technically it doesn’t costs more – €199/€249 is including VAT (typically 20%) which converted with EUR/USD exchange rate (1.25) will bring EU price about $10 more than the US price, thanks to the exchange rate fluctuations. Keep in mind, that the US $199/$249 price is without sales taxes.

      1. Hmmm you are probably right
