Overclocked Nexus 7 Makes Quadrant Benchmark Scream And Holler Thanks To Trinity Kernel

20

For all you benchmarking junkies out there (you know who you are), the Nexus 7 has just found itself the newest home to the Trinity kernel — one of my personal favorite software mods for rooted devices. Developer “Morfic” and friends have managed to get the Nexus 7’s Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked to a screaming 1.64GHz and after running it through Quadrant, the device scored well over 7,000, while still maintaining great battery life.

So what does this mean? Well… absolutely nothing. Like my 6th grade teacher once whispered in my ear, “Age ain’t nothin’ but a number, Chris.” Same goes for benchmarks.

While this isn’t exactly representative of any real world speeds or an enhanced user experience, it’s still nice to see. Especially for those who are prone to benchmark envy whenever a new and improved processor moves into the neighborhood.

    1. It gets over 9000 on antutu.

    2. Only downranking because that in-joke has been run into the ground a long time ago.

  9. Chris… what school did you go to? And… how do I get in?

  10. It’s using the tempfs cheat. I can get close to 7k on just stock speeds when mounting /data/data/com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.standard to tempfs.

Not that it isn’t fast without using that.

  11. Yea, I got about 4,000 on quadrant with my single core Incredible 2 with these kinda tweaks.

  12. Wait…6th grade?? Like,

  13. Yay. Another kernel that caches io agressivly to inflate the benchmark. BFD.

  14. 6th grade teacher. What was his name?
