Sony investigating Jelly Bean 4.1 update for 2011 Xperia smartphones

Sony is doing a tad bit of damage control following false reports by Sony Mobile UK that some of its 2011 smartphones would not be getting Jelly Bean.

Sony has issued an update on their product blog reassuring everyone that this estimation was an error and that they are still investigating the possibility of getting Jelly Bean 4.1 on their 2011 Xperia smartphones.

So they’re pretty much saying “anything is possible, but not promised.” That’s about as much as we can ask for right now, I guess, so just sit back and let Sony announce availability of the update for individual phones because it usually isn’t a good idea to get your hopes up prematurely.

  1. I suspect they will do a dance very similar to HTCs.
They’ll drag their feet and then announce it would harm the older phones and their users.

  2. Gimmie jelly bean. I WANT IT BADLY.

  3. Stuff the 2011 handsets sort the 2012 ones out first. Sony should have jelly bean to all 2012 handsets by the end of the year otherwise they have failed there customers.
