HTC Comes Clean – Officially Confirms Jelly Bean Updates For One X, One XL, and One S On AT&T, T-Mobile, and More

14

Yesterday night we told you guys about how Australian carrier Telstra may have let the cat out of the bag, confirming the unconfirmed, that HTC has been busy preparing the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One S and HTC One XL. With no official word from HTC on exactly which of their devices would be updated to the newest Google dessert, many were left scratching their heads. That changes today with HTC officially confirming for the first time that Jelly Bean will, in fact, be coming to their HTC One X, HTC One XL (S4 equipped version), and HTC One S. Here’s what HTC had to say,

“We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”

As you can see, no word on the timing of updates (carriers play a large role in when they can and will roll out) but we’ll keep you posted.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. I assume this will include the Sprint variant, HTC EVO 4G LTE? I know there are minor differences bit it should be an easy carry over.

    1. Hmmmm… errrr…… ummmm..yeah….. *awkward*

    2. Sprint + Android + Update = LAWLS. Good luck with that bro. Even tho they have beast mode coverage here in my area im with Tmo because historically they are just slightly worse than Tmo to get updates. Im trying to offload my sensation tho so i can get a nexus and never worry about updates again for the life of the device.

  2. Sprint is always last

  4. Yup just like the Rezound was getting ICS early 2012. F you and your empty promises HTC. You are better off not saying anything.

You lost another customer for good.

Wonder why you continue to lose market share and drop in earnings?

  5. They need this out as soon as possible. Like months before the GS III.

  6. Soon to HTC means 8 to 9 months, yea soon!!

  7. Owning a One X, this announcement isn’t that excited. “Time frame: TBD” means anytime in the next 18 months. I’m guessing the earliest I will see this update is holiday time.

  8. Yea.. another vague announcement that leaves it all up in the air… GNex ftw

    1. Samsung FTL.

  9. So, htc’s FLAGSHIP phones will EVENTUALLY be updated to the CURRENT version of Android? Wow, that’s… uh… exciting, big news?

  10. I will come clean too. No more htc devices for me. HTC used to be good on updates, they aren’t now. bye bye htc.

    1. Good luck waiting for updates from Samsung, LG or Sony.
