New HTC phone hits benchmark listing sporting 1.7GHz Tegra 3 processor? [RUMOR]

29

After finding out about a possible Tegra 3 HTC tablet over at Nenamark 2, a listing from GLBenchmark seems to suggest HTC is working on a 72op, 1.7GHz quad-core Tegra 3 phone. There’s reason to believe the device could be another One phone. Its listing shows the name “evitareul,” and the HTC One XL’s codename was “evitare” before its launch.

There’s no telling if this is a variant of an existing model, but we see it being a One phone either way. The listing also suggests this will be going to AT&T’s network, and since we know they prefer their high-end phones to have LTE it’s safe to suggest this will sport the necessary radios for high speed wireless data.

As we know, the Snapdragon S4 chipset is more desirable in America right now due to its LTE compatibility, but NVIDIA has been sampling their LTE-ready Tegra 3 SoC for quite some time and we expect to see it in devices in the latter portions of the year. That doesn’t say anything about when we can expect this device to arise, though — that could be anytime between now and until the cows come home. [via Notebook Italia]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Hmm, T-Mobile Plz.

  2. At some point the CPUs get to be so fast that it doesn’t matter any more, at least to 95% of smartphone users.

    1. and… that hasnt happened yet

  3. Its hard to get excited about current phones because my upgrade isn’t until November and anything out now would be completely obsolete by then. If these rumors are true then it would put the release of the phone right around my upgrade.

    1. November? You’re lucky. My isn’t up until February… 2014. Haha.

      1. Sorry.

      2. Mine’s on May 2014..

        1. Yep. May 2014. I highly doubt I will make until then with the same phone.

      3. Canadian?

        1. Haha, no. British. I recently got a two year contract. But with the rate smart-phones are advancing, I will soon start to get jealous.

    2. You’ll be better off, trust me. The rumor has it there will be a Nexus device from 5 manufacturers in November, with Android 5.0, and they all should be cutting edge phone, since they need to compete with each other very well, and win the public’s approval.

      1. That’s what I’m waiting for myself, and the reason I didn’t jump on a GS3, I don’t want to deal with slow updates anymore, and I’m not going to pay for a nexus that has less impressive specs that my current phones, just for jellybean.

Lately, I feel more and more that I don’t need newer hardware (though I expect it from new phones I buy) I need faster phone updates, that’s why my next phone will almost certainly be one of the 5 new nexus’s

        1. Same here.

  4. here is a link for another HTC Device with 1794 x 1080 Resolution and Adreno 320 GPU. http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=HTC+6435LVW

and its build version suggests its headed for verizon. could possibly be the mystery HTC Tablet too

  5. Damn the HTC one x just came out for the us a couple months ago. Now the HTC one x 2 is already in the makes. I guess I wait for the HTC one x 3 out before the end of this year!

  6. Wow so much for htc “releasing less devices and focusing more
On the ones they’ve released” if this true then
Those who just bought the 1X are gonna be pissed.

  7. I hope this thing has a removable battery….

  8. Is this the note competitor?

  9. Meh, the 28nm process Snapdragon S4 is still the win.

  10. I’m sure it’ll have a removable battery and SD slot. Oh well I just got my One X but I have two upgrades as I type. Waiting on the next Nexus for at&t.

    1. how do you have two? o.O

  11. What are the odds it’s a souped up Nexus X device with LTE support for AT&T to add to the others that got LTE versions of the last Nexus… I could only dream.

    1. Yup. Probably HTC’s bid for the next Nexus, or one of the few Nexus devices due out this fall.

  12. 1.7GHz, it`s not rumor, it`s fact, last year Moto they said they working on 2.0GHz smartphone, in 2010 HTC, after the HTC EVO 4G, the said they have phone in the pipeline with 2.5GHz, which the rumor came to be the HTC One X. Maybe the 1.7GHz it`s the ONE X big brother.

    1. I never said the chip they’re using is rumored. I said the phone is rumored, which it is.

    2. Motorola was never working on a 2 Ghz. It was the CEO who said a dumb thing back then. He actually meant dual core 1 Ghz…which was the Tegra 2 Atrix.

  13. What about being 1.7ghz suggests it being a Tegra 3, considering the S4’s maximum clock speed is 1.7ghz and the quad core, Adreno 320 is scheduled for Q3 I’d assume the latter – especially considering how close HTC and Qualcomm are.

  14. T-mobile G4…X? If so. Shut up and take my money.
