T-Mobile’s HTC One S caught on video

37

The HTC One S is going through the paces on its way to a release on T-Mobile and has now found itself in front of the camera for a brief hands-on appearance. The One series handset will make its way to quite a few carriers and not only TMo in the states, but it looks to retain a similar experience in all its incarnations. Rumors have suggested its big brother the One X may get a stock Ice Cream Sandwich build for a release on Magenta.

One thing to point out is that the device being handled in this video doesn’t show any clear T-Mobile branding. The software, however, definitely appears to be built for the network. Whether this is a ROM installed on an international handset, a pre-production model for T-Mobile, or something else the result is the same. An HTC One S running on T-Mobile.

  1. where is this being shot at? mcdonalds play place? lol. no offense, this guy doesn’t seem to be very credible.

    1. I agree, all kinds of things come to mind as to how he got it. Then again he could be some high level exec…. just sayin’…

      1. Haha…..”some high level exec”..with the way T-mobile is performing you might just be right….LOL

        1. Don’t let the nose ring or the big ass gaping hole in the ear fool you!

    2. LOL that was my first question, like wtf is up with all those kids screaming in the background then i realized its being shot at McDonald

      1. Very clever trick of espionage…   use screaming kids to cover any eavesdropping device. This is so…  dastardly! :P

  2. How do these people get these phones so early? Anyone have any ideas?

    1. I worked for T-mobile and that’s how I got my pre-release phones. I had the Mytouch 4G about 3 months before it came out. I know it isn’t some awesome phone but to have something that no one else has or knows what it is for a few months is pretty neat. My friend still works at T-Mobile and has this phone currently. He won a trip for something and HTC gave them out as a gift. However, if the person in the video still works for T-Mobile they will be fired because I’m sure there is a NDA about this phone until it releases.

      1. Oh okay, that is pretty cool to have phones even as a gift. I am still on a MyTouch 4G lol.

      2. “hey baby please dont show anything that identifies the phone”
        “I wont dont worry….”

The next day they discover a pic of nose ring man at this girlfriends desk.

“Baby I got fired!! I need the phone back…..

  3. Uh-oh, those antenna connections under that removable top cover are identical to the god-awful design of the Sensation antennas!

  4. every company has “testers” the one x for att is out and about already, I have a friend that is a tester and has shown me a few of them before release. (He had the vivid waaaay before I even knew it was coming out.)

  5. Possibly one of those intentional leaks to spark a buzz…

  6. Guy need to sort out all the stupid holes in his face

  7. and someone in the world just got fired for leaking

    1. Yeah. Covers the serial number all except for just long enough for someone to get a screen grab. Then opens up and shows us the software screen. If this is early enough in testing, there’s probably more than one variation of software running out there which means TMO just got another couple of screen grabs to narrow this down.

  8. did anyone else notice the leak was recorded possibly at  mcdonalds lol

  9. What the phuck is that thing crawling out of his nose?

  10. I wish HTC would drop the stupid white menus, good way of eating up battery…

    1. Using black only saves battery for OLED type displays. Most of HTC’s phones are using TFT LCD type screens which draw the same power no matter which colors are shown.

That said, I think the One S is supposed to have a Super AMOLED display, so it would be nice.

      1.  Thats true, I could have sworn I saw it was SAMOLED as well, thats why I posted that but should have been more specific

        1. the S does have SAMOLED, but its like the only HTC phone to do so so i don’t think its a big deal to them as of yet

          1. Ya I think its the only recent phone to have it but some previous phones had OLED

  11. He said this phone has both microSIM and microSD.  I thought this phone was not supposed to have expandable memory.  Did he make a mistake or did something change along the way?

    1. No, unfortunately he say it uses microSIM… no microSD. :-(

      1.  Watch the video again.  At 0:46 to 0:52 he clearly says both.  He points to a slot at the top of the phone for microSIM and to a slot on the side for microSD, both under the removable cover.  :)

        1. I listened to it a few times. He says “no micro SD.”

        2. No, I think you need to listen to it again. ;)

          1. I’ve listened to it again, and again.  The screeching from the kids doesn’t help it!  LOL  You’re right, he does say no.  That sucks.

          2. Really wish I wasn’t. Search for my next phone goes on. :(

        3. use more then your ears, there is no slot for micro SD

    2. I thought so as well. Interesting enough, I can clearly see the microSD card slot when he points it out. That’s a plus 1 for this phone.

  12. This currently looks to be the best Android phone, even though I’d prefer it to be a 4.0″ screen. It’s thin, light, relatively compact, AMOLED display, and incredible performance. Figures it’s not coming to Verizon.

Edit: Watched the video and ugh, Sense menus are UGLY. It has a display capable of perfect black levels yet they did away with the awesome ICS interface. It doesn’t even have the cool animation paging between app screens. Oh well.

  13. That screen was beautiful. Holy cow. SLCD 2 really kicked it up a notch. :D

    1. That’s just regular old qHD Super Amoled, Chris.  The One X has SLCD 2.

    2. the S has AMOLED, the X has SLCD 2, which im still betting will be amazing
