Rugged Samsung Rugby Smart Pictured, Still No Word on Release Date

7

The Samsung Ruby Smart, a rugged smartphone for those whose lifestyles aren’t friendly to traditional smartphones, was supposed to launch on AT&T a few days ago. The thing is, it didn’t. It seems AT&T still has it on their mind, though, as new press shots of the smartphone have leaked, courtesy of PocketNow. The device is said to be packing 512MB of RAM, 1650mAh battery and 3G, but nothing else is known  at this point. We’re not sure when AT&T will be getting around to announcing this unusual offering by Samsung but if you have no use for an ugly, yet durable smartphone, I wouldn’t pay much attention to it.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I like the name…thats about it.

  2. How the hell are you going to release another Samsung phone with Gingerbread and people are still waiting on the long but delayed Gingerbread update for the Samsung Infuse 4g? At&t is really full of themselves.

  3. Couldn’t you just buy a GSII, slap an Otterbox case on it and call it a day? O_o

  4. Well, there is no word on the release date, so it could be next year before Samsung Rugby comes out. Personally, I don’t like the name, it’s misleading. I thought you were going to sell an app doing with Rugby. Gingerbread is a lot better name.

    1. It looks like the name is to associate the phone with Samsung’s Rugby and Rugby II (both are flip phones on AT&T). They are supposedly extremely durable, waterproof, and made to military specifications. And they look just as silly as this phone. =P

  5. I had the Samsung Rugby when it was a flip phone and loved it. It was bright yellow and I called it bumble bee.

  6. Samsung Rugby Smart is one of the mid range smartphone, it looks very attractive. It comes with 4GB memory 512 MB of RAM, with 5 MB camera as well as 1.3 MB front facing camera. For more details refer http://www.techiecop.com/cellphones/samsung-cellphones/samsung-rugby-smart-review.html
