Sony Ericsson LT28at Hits Bluetooth SIG With 720p HD Screen, 13MP Camera and AT&T’s 4G LTE

35

Oh, sweet Mother Theresa, what is this? It appears that Sony Erics– Er, Sony is finally stepping up to the plate and preparing a superphone of their own, the LT28at for AT&T (I know, it stings). I originally mistook this leak for an American version of Nozomi (LT26i) — which could still very well be the case, given the device’s very similar model numbers but slightly different specs. Speaking of specs, the LT28at had everything laid out in black and white when it received Bluetooth certification and to say the least… them specs look beastly.

The device was revealed sporting a 4.55-inch Sony Reality display at 1280×720 HD resolution, 13MP with back-illuminated camera sensor with a front facing camera capable of 720p video recording and dual noise cancelling microphones that also record in stereo sound for video and compatibility with AT&T’s 4G LTE. Not too shabby, right? Check out some sample pics from the phone’s 13MP camera below (click twice for original size).

No word when we can expect this superphone to hit stateside but you can bet the LT28at will be the star of my dreams tonight. Hopefully, the LT28at will be unveiled at next month’s CES 2012 and Phandroid will get some very intimate hands on time with the device.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. im sure that us on verizon will get something just as good…….about a year after this gets released……

  2. This camera CRUSHES the camera on my GNex!  Ouch.

    1. Compared the Gnex this camera is OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. get.

    2. XTERMINATES

  3. Fuck! AT&T is getting EVERYTHING! If it wasn’t for their shitty prices and service, I would switch back to them in a heartbeat…. Probably for the Galaxy Note though… Still happy with my E4GT and Sprint :)

    1. my contract is up in august, and i really hope they get LTE in KC by then and a decent phone, otherwise im going verizon or att

      1. I work for att hehe http://www.att.com/network/ get it buddy kc is switched on and blazing!

        1. can you hook me up with a unlimited plan?

          1. HA! Trust me I have tried! (you would have to find someone leaving att and do a transfer of liability)

  4.  Sony needs to know about a little term called “Pentaband 3G”. Carrier specific phones need to die.

    1. I think that’s actually the carriers doing, not OEM’s.. =/

      1. while that may be true that doenst mean SE cant produce and sell unlocked pentaband or at least tmobile 3G compatible versions of their superphones. I really wanted an Xperia X10 then this year the Arc but they refuse to  support tmo. 5 of my friends wanted Xperia Play but they’re all on T-Mobile and refuse to go elsewhere.

  5. Verizon needs a gnote and one of these. All our phones are too similarly speced

  6. Yeah…Ben makes me wish Verizon got this too…might be better than the Nexus…

    1. The galaxy nexus was never intended to be the best android on the market.  Just a good implementation of stock Android.  How is Sony and ATT about updates.  GN still wins in that department.  I already have ICS on my nexus s and that makes a big difference to get that update as soon as the first phone with it is out.

      1. Sony has already released dates for when all of it’s phones will receive ics…. NO company to my knowledge is covering such a range of models or offering specifics.

  7. So want. I hope it uses the Snapdragon S4 and not the S3.

  8. Wow look at those photos. My next android phone is definitely a Sony.

  9. A front facing camera capable of 720p recording!? o.Oh my go.Ogle!! I have to get this phone.

    1. no one wants to see your mug in 720p

  10. until you realize that instead of stock ICS 4.0, there will be some atrocious skin that renders this phone obsolete in 1 month.

    1. Have you even seen/played with Sony’s Android skin? It’s neither atrocious nor obsolete to updates.

  11. This is extremely exciting :)…. I’ve been a huge fan of Sony Ericsson in the past but they haven’t done anything enticing with android as of yet… This phone however seems sweeet… So glad I waited and didn’t jump ship with the GS2 on ATT… I can’t wait until the 1st Q of 2012.  For now I can enjoy my Nexus S with ICS :)

  12. According to Bluetooth SIG and XperiaBlog, the device will be equipped with 4.55-inch Reality Display with 720x1280p resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core chipset, 13-megapixel back-illuminated sensor camera with LED flash, 720p front facing camera, LTE support, 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, dual-microphones…..

  13. 5.5 ” is better. Haha.

  14. Damn, in pic 2 I can even read the print in the book! That is a badass phone camera!

  15. Very nice pictures indeed, but 13MP?! What would you do with a 13MP picture? Turn it into a mural?  I’m sure that’s a marketing thing since most people still have the “more megapixels=better” mentality. I am impressed with the quality, though – very nice pics for a camera phone.

  16. I’ll need to see the physical dimensions and OS version… But, if this thing is thin, light, and runs ICS, I’d probably choose it over anything else we’ve seen on the horizon.

Then again, by the time this hits, the GNex and other newer options may be available on AT&T LTE.  I’m already month-to-month with AT&T — I’ve been eligible for an upgrade since last April — so it’s just a matter of waiting for the right LTE phone.  I think I’ve decided on my birthday (March) as my drop-dead date to upgrade… may the best phone win!! :)

    1. do you not like the vivid?

  17. T-mobile gets nothing good..DAMN!

    1. Sprint doesn’t seem to be getting anything either..

  18. Wow , sexy phone . To bad VZW will not get it , but then again it might be time to change carrier and phone brand .

  19. Better have ics!
