Toshiba Excite AT200 “World’s Thinnest Tablet” Shows Up On Official Website – Hitting Canada In January

27

Toshiba Canada has listed their all new Excite Honeycomb tablet on their site today and it looks like it will be hitting ‘ol America Jr. sometime in January. Originally announced back in September, the AT200 boasted the world’s thinnest and lightest tablet, most likely in hopes of washing away the bad taste the almost “Nerf-like” Thrive left in our mouths.

Not much here has changed. Measuring in at only 7.7mm thick, this Honeycomb tablet is actually thinner than a Galaxy S II. Other features include a 10.1-inch 1280×800 resolution display, 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP 4430 processor, 5MP rear/2MP front facing cameras, micro HDMI and will come available in either 16 or 32GB versions. If Toshiba can come through with Ice Cream Sandwich, I’ll definitely be listening.

  1. Indeed it is beautiful :) I am shocked how ugly is Motorla Xoom 2. I mean Xooms corners are sexy, but the back design is horrible.

    1. at least the Xoom is ugly enough to escape the vultures at apple.

  2. Im intrested if they in a couple of month can come with Tegra3(or something similar i performance), ics and LTE.

  3. I was excited then I saw the words “dual core”

  4. Not sure why anyone would get this over the TF Prime.

    1. not sure why you’d comment, when this has more to do about competition and availability of a range of tablets, other than Apple’s single offering.

      1. Competition? lol.

All I see is a thinner tablet with inferior specs compared to the TF Prime. There is no competition, TF Prime > A200. Based on the information given, no knowledgeable person would choose the A200 over the Prime.

Dunno why you even brought Apple.

        1. Do you know the price??  Everything comes with a price and, as such, must factored into any decision.  I don’t know how any knowledgeable person can belittle a person without even knowing the price point. What if it sells for $200??  Its not about the absolute specs.  Its about the specs and how much you pay for those specs.

          1. No, I don’t know the price. That’s why I said “Based on the information given.”

If you think this tablet will sell for $200, your delusional bud.

          2. Ya this will likely be Asus TP similar pricing.
I was hooked on this before they announced the TP.
I do like the looks of the Toshiba more.

      2. He didn’t even mention apple.

        1. “not sure why you’d comment, when this has more to do about competition and availability of a range of tablets, other than Apple’s single offering.”
          Reading is fundamental.

          1. I was referring to how YOUdidn’t mention Apple. My reply is under his

  5. Front face looks pretty similar to the iPad except the placement of the camera. I am just thinking will they get sued like Samsung?

    1. Obsess much?

      1. There’s no obsession.  We’re just going by Apple’s own words.  Since this is a rectangular device that lacks significant adornment, has a black bezel and a centered display, this is obviously a copy of Apple’s iPad.

I know it says Toshiba on the back, but hey– that’s just splitting hairs.

        1. Did Steve Jobs take a shit in your living room?

          1. I’m beginning to think that he did in yours due to your attitude buddy.

    2. The High Court in Australia have told Apple where they can step off (breaking news) in regards to the Galaxy Tab 10.1

  6. Is it possible that some of you can put aside your obsessive apple hatred and just enjoy your Android phone/tablet?

    1. Do you feel that Android is that inferior that you have to obsess so much?

      1. Are you actually having a discussion with yourself on a thread?  o_O

  7. Thinner than a phone huh. I think it should be thicker because it is going to break in half. Lol.

  8. I like the flat brushed aluminium back of this. However, this was due to be released in Oct/Nov but now that it’s gonna be Jan, it’s gonna be hard to sell with the Transformer Prime also available. May be if it is priced a lot lower than the Prime then it might have a chance.

    1. You’re kidding right? Transformer Prime will nowhere to be found for long time. I’d say it’s gonna take at least 4-5 months for Asus to replenish the stock to somewhat acceptable level.

      1. Who’s to say that won’t be the same for the Toshiba Excite? Plus only having 16GB/32GB, less powerful proc and Honeycomb is less appealing.

  9. Awesome! Can’t wait!!
