Got an Hour? Watch This Video On Eric Schmidt Talking Google TV, Ice Cream Sandwich and Brain Mapping

29

Google’s Eric Schmidt showed up in Paris for LeWeb 2011 talking all things digital — and we mean all things. In an onstage interview he invites Hugo Barra onstage to go over Ice Cream Sandwich (to a very unenthusiastic crowd) and show off its many features.

Later in the interview (around 37:00), Mr. Schmidt makes a bold statement regarding Google TV saying he expects to see most new televisions coming with the platform preinstalled by — not 2014 — not 2013 — but the summer of 2012. Wow, Eric. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for it. ARM-based processors are becoming cheaper every day and it’s already been rumored we could see televisions with Google TV inside unveiled by Samsung and LG at CES in January.

Watch the whole video below to hear Eric Schmidt talk, Ice Cream Sandwich, Google TV and extremely technical things that most likely no one understands but him.

  1. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Eric Schmidt at the Google Music event. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met and was even waiting in line with all the normals (like me).

That being said, everything he spoke to me about was way over my head and I just sat there and smiled O_o

Also thought it was funny that NOBODY knew who he was (press or celebrities) even though he was easily the richest person there. =p

    1. Very good video….although there were some definite awkward moments with Schmidt and the presenter displaying ICS. I can tell he wanted to tell him to STFU a few times.

      1. Ya, I noticed that too. But I guess when you introducing the latest and greatest your company has to offer, and the presenter doesn’t follow and complete every point he was supposed to make, I can understand why Schmidt would cut in. That being said, I definitely he was being a little rude at times.

        1. I think he was just trying to crack a joke.
          Which didn’t seem to work.

The crowd all seemed to be busy with their laptops, even most of the clapping didn’t sound very enthusiastic.

          1. The guy is a completely jack ass………he’s not even funny….

    2. Lol you probably mistook some old guy for Eric Schmidt and he was just yankin’ your chain

      1. Hahahahaha…………it could be the wrong eric

      2. LMAO imagine?

  2. That man is the new Steve Jobs

    1. I’m so curious now! What was the link!?!?!?!?!?!

      1. You’ll never know

  3. He’s a freaking boss

  4. “In an onstage interview he invites Hugo Barra onstage to go over Ice Cream Sandwich (to a very unenthusiastic crowd)”
It may be because ‘Le Web’ is a conference about World Wide Web…

  5. Does anybody think its weird that he’s using an apple laptop?

    1. Nope. I sold mine, dont want to use apple products, but I guess Eric is showing he is not ANTI apple… which is a smart move IMO.

    2. all of Google converted to apple laptops/desktops

    3. He used to work for Apple on their board of Directors. Besides, it’s important to understand that most Googlers use Apple products, they’re funny like that.

    4. Contrary to what people think, it’s not some holy war. Google doesn’t HATE Apple, they merely compete with them in the mobile space.

I mean, they even release their apps for iOS which could be seen as “weird” too =p

      1. eric used to be on the board for apple and resigned out of respect for apple the day google launched android.

  6. “extremely technical things that most likely no one understands but him.” and other people who understand technology rather than just report on it.  /ducks.

    1. You should write for us! :)

  7. Did anyone notice the tablet was a Motorola xoom?

    1. Yep. They can push that update out any time now.

Though actually, maybe they’re holding off until Flash is ready.

    2. And Ice Cream Sandwich on the Nexus S! :D

      1. ive had ice cream sandwich on my nexus S since the day before thanksgiving

  8. Very interesting and inspirational… a LOT more humble than the smug and arrogant Mr Jobs was.

  9. You should spend a hour with God….

  10. Work can wait, I’m watching this.

  11. Still major disappointing that ICS has no Facebook support.  Really bad from Google.  Are they just being childish because it competes directly with Google+ ?
