Telstra Flips On 4G LTE Switch In Australia – Deafens Crowd With Special Guest Rebecca Black [Video]

18

To help celebrate the launch of their new 4G LTE network in Australia, Telstra has teamed up with none other than HTC to deliver the carrier’s first 4G device. At the moment, it’s only known under the codename “HTC 4G.” While HTC/Telstra was rather mum on details, they did reveal that the device will feature a 4.5-inch qHD display and dual-core processor for a release in the first half of 2012.

Oh — and the best part? To help kick off the festivities, Telstra was gracious enough to provide for YouTube sensation/phenomena, Rebecca Black (I couldn’t make this up if I tried). In a musical performance that could only be described as the world’s best Rick Roll from a national carrier and it’s for that — I commend you, Telstra.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. Seriously Telstra?

  2. Rebecca Black?, What does she sing, I’m not a YouTube fanatic in any way

  3. Chris, did you sing along? o_O I know you did, in tidy whities.

    1. Don’t ask how I knew Rebecca Black tweeted this o.O

  4. This is truly the saddest thing I have ever seen a carrier do. I officially hate Testra.

  5. Why do so many people hate on her? She’s a little girl. And her lyrics may be corny, but she’s a good influence on other young ones. We should be putting her up on a pedestal. People complain when Britney Spears is too sexual, and now they complain when Rebecca Black is too “corny” for them. SHUT UP. SHE’S A CHILD.

    1. People hate her because she released a commercially produced record via the medium of YouTube which is awful on every conceivable level, the lyrics are trite, repetitive, and to be fair just shit, she can’t sing, the use of auto-tune is ridiculous, note that they even forget to turn it off when she finishes singer her song “live”. She maybe young but she has put herself in the public eye by actively going out to be a “pop star”, so no I won’t shut up. Why don’t you.

      1. Spot on Alex! It’s sad this society embraces people with no talent in this day and age. ie: Rebecca Black, cast of Jersey Shore and practically every reality tv personality ever put on tv. This girl has no talent, but then again, look at the carrier that’s using her? ‘nuf said.

        1. Hey, guess what! You can actually NOT listen to or watch things that you don’t like! There are 400+ channels on TV and countless websites and videos to watch. “People like something that I don’t like so I have to talk about it constantly!” Get over yourself.

      2. You can try to justify hating a little girl all you want, but at the end of the day, you are the creepy one. Seriously, why the fuck do you care? When you obsess about things you supposedly don’t like, it makes it look like you’re trying to convince yourself more than others.

  6. i just cut myself

  7. Surely the best phone for her to advertise would be the Samsung Moment?

  8. I feel sorry for the phone(HTC Holiday) having to listen to and be associated that talentless nitwit.

  9. Don’t really understand why folks hate on the poor girl when it sounds about as good as the rest of the crap that everybody is in love with these days. I mean I guess if she put on a meat dress it would all be ok.

On another note I could have sworn that chick had braces and then almost every girl the showed in the audience had braces lol.
