Download: New Gingerbread Build for the HTC Thunderbolt

25

The folks at Android Police have leaked a Gingerbread build for the HTC Thunderbolt. It’s version 2.11.605.2, but as always we’re unsure as to what’s different between this and any previous leaks. We do know that it keeps users on HTC Sense 2.1, but that was to be expected. This is an unrooted RUU file, meaning rooted users may want to wait until developers of their favorite ROMs incorporate the update. For those who aren’t rooted and want to give it a shot, be sure to download the file here and follow the instructions below.

  • Rename the file to “PG05IMG.zip” (without quotes)
  • Drop it on the root of your SD Card
  • Turn off your device
  • Hold Volume Down + Power to reboot into the bootloader — the file should automatically be detected and the flashing process will begin.
  • Wait for your device to complete the process and reboot

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. A rooted version of this is available here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272424

  2. Still waiting for an official ota gingerbread build for the Samsung droid charge

  3. What a joke. Glad I ditched this piece of garbage while the eBay getting was still good.

    1. I love mine, I don’t know why you would say that. Could you explain a bit better than just “piece of garbage”?

    2. Well, you are just a dumbass.

    3. It’s a good phone especially with gingerbread on it, it’s actually the most reliable android phone I’ve ever had, especially since they got the real bugs out with MR2
I’ll be rocking my thunderbolt at minimum until a nice dual core phone with ICS preinstalled comes out.

  4. This update for GB has been leaked more time in different builds than a leaky faucet.

  5. The Thunderbolt has had issues at release… but now that there are so many ROMS and MODS to choose from… This is one of the best phones on the market. Only the HTC Vigor will break my Thunderbolt from my cold dead grip.

  6. Were glad the thunderbolt dumped your piece of garbage ass too, to bad eBay had to pay HTC to take you down

  7. Will this wipe all your data from the phone?

    1. It did for me. Just make sure you use HTC Sync before the update as I learned the hard way.

  8. Since it has taken so long to get an official version of of GB on the Thunderchicken, they should just skip it, and go straight to ICS.

  9. does this void the warranty? is there a way to go back?

  10. Does this void the warranty? and is it reversible?

  11. If you are on 2.11.605.0 and have flashed the camera fix then don’t bother updating. The only thing that’s new in the 2.11.605.2 build is the camera fix.

    1. this may sound like a dumb question, but when you hook up your phone to the computer were do you find root on sd card

      1. It is the main directory like: (/sd) no subfolders

        1. So if I understand you correctly, you just drop it on the ds card where there isn’t any files or folders

  12. Well I viewed it as a piece of garbage that weighs a ton, couldn’t last more than 6 hours on a charge, and was rushed to the public with reboot issues galore. Still doesn’t have official GB either. That’s enough reason for me. Thanks for rude comments too from the juveniles who don’t like hearing people’s opinions.

  13. This IS! the final version that will be released next month. The other leak had no bloatware, this leak had it all so, there is another difference (JustinBowman) other than the camera. Also to the guy(pavet11) with the opinion, “there like assholes, everybody has one!” If you truly love your phone then you ride it out till the bolts fall off…Live It, Love It, Android-Life!!!!! Forever Bamf 1.0.6/Dream Kernel/ 1.4 Fast as Lightning……………………………….

    1. this isnt final. it has a ton of glitches. my phone doesnt even vibrate when i receive a text on vibrate anymore. if you go to select a live wallpaper, the preview image for them are all magnified and pixelated. the app drawer should fade in by the way the symbol is, but it instead functions like standard android’s old app drawer where the pointer shows up, you press it, and it magically slides up. it may have some bloatware, but it doesnt have all the bloatware.

    2. also this update is to be released by september, not october.Just because it was recently leaked doesn’t mean that this is the most recent build that they were working on.

  14. Anyone else not able to find the Clock app after doing this upgrade?

    1. I haven’t found the app itself but if you have the clock widget up just click on that.

  15. In Tulsa, I got this from Verizon today 2.11.605.3
