Samsung Attempts To Downplay European Galaxy Tab Injunction

20

It was only a few hours ago we reported Apple’s “win” over Samsung in German courts, effectively blocking the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from being sold within the European Union — for now. Interestingly enough, Samsung remains optimistic and in an attempt to reassure buyers, quickly responded to the decision. Kim Titus, Samsung’s director of public relations had this to say,

“This decision by the court in Germany in no way influences other legal proceedings filed with the courts in Europe and elsewhere. The request for injunction was filed with no notice to Samsung, and the order was issued without any hearing or presentation of evidence from Samsung. We will take all necessary measures to ensure Samsung’s innovative mobile communications devices are available to customers in Europe and around the world.”

Seems as though Samsung feels this ruling will not have an affect in their legal battles vs. Apple in other markets but we can’t be so sure. Although we’re definitely in Samsung’s court, this seems like a bad omen of things to come for the Korean company.

  1. Sounds shady.
I guess in Deutschland there is no such thing as a fair trial.

  2. WTF! Stupid German court makes a huge ruling against Samsung, stopping them from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the whole of Europe and there wasn’t even any kind of proper trial. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is way different to the stupid iPad. What kind of iShit is this?

  3. So let me get this straight. The judge made such a ruling without letting Samsung put forth its own evidence. Talk about a suspicious process….

  4. The picture is unrealistic. Both phones have the same size screen in it. Make them realistic and see who gets confused.

    1. What? The Galaxy S is just a little bit bigger than the iPhone 4 in the pic (just like in real life). I have no clue what you’re talking about…..? =/

  5. Lol not surprising. It is Germany we’re talking about. They don’t have trials remember? They have camps.

    1. Not funny, not cool!

    2. bad post, I guess court was stupid, but to link it to holocaust is in bad taste

    3. fuck off ignorant cunt.
most educated people are probably offended by your stupid post.

      1. And they are most certainly offended by yours.

        1. My apologies, I know there are some people who do not like the use of words like cunt or fuck… I do. There is a very large difference between the use of four letter words and the use of racist ideology. As an educated person, you should know that… or perhaps you don’t care.

          1. I’m more offended by your post to be honest, he was just joking. Also, his joke was not demeaning like yours.

          2. My comment was not a joke, if his comment was a “joke” it would be the same kind of “joke” an idiot would make about your mother (or anyone’s mother) – it would be very bad taste, and someone who “joked” like that deserves to be hammered.

  6. kinda sounds similar to LG vs Sony… same headlines about injunctions and sony not being able to sell ps3’s in the EU etc. but they moved supplier to somewhere else in the EU and eventually overturned the injunction. pretty sure LG got a fine out of it in the end lol. hopefully Apple will get a fine for being dumbasses.

  7. So much for a unified Europe, if this was done prior to that, only Germany would be banning the Tab. I do agree with Nima above, what a shamble of a court decision. I wonder if Samsung will pay the $350k fine and sell them anyway?

  8. I have read about it here in Germany. The Galaxy Tab will not be sold in the whole EU. Good, that I imported it from US.
And DYNK…. shame on you for such a post. Germany nowadays is more democratic and liberal than any other country, especially US. We don’t like jokes about holocaust, because it was a bad time in our history, and we (the young ones) are not guilty for it.

  9. samsung should just ship their devices anyways. jobs is just jealous that he isnt special

  10. Fight the fruit! You can always go to Amsterdam and pick one up… Apple is scared of losing its death grip. Also bringing the holocaust in to this is bad taste whats done is done no need to bring it up. Lets talk technology and not history.
