T-Mobile G2x Gingerbread Update Now Available Through LG’s Update Tool

14

Afraid your G2x would be without Gingerbread for a while as LG posted “by summer” as its launch date? Well first of all, you’ll be happy to know that that post is rather old, one LG deletes and reposts from time to time. (I guess to keep it from slipping off the front page? I don’t know.)

Anyway, forget that and get a whiff of this – you can download your Gingerbread 2.3.3 update. Right now.

You’ll need windows as it requires LG’s updater tool – no OTA yet. But if you are getting sick of Froyo (brain freezes suck) and want something hard to chew on, you’ll want to grab this up. Root users beware – you’ll lose it if you choose to download the OTA.

It’s 178MB and will step you up to build GRI40. You’ll need to download the executable at this link to get started.[via XDA, Android Police]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Hopefully, this will be something I can use on Friday. ;)

  2. so do we think this will fix things or will people just have reboots with gingerbread now?

  3. Any help with the mac compatible download link?

  4. Well, then it shouldn’t take too long to get 2.3 to O2X :)

  5. I downloaded the LG Mobile Support Tool, it’s saying my phone is up to date. My phone’s software version is v10f and the build number is FRG83G….WTF…. why will it not update my phone?

  6. now all the crybabies can be happy

    1. you sound like one of the iphone fanboys. if you pay for a phone and it doesn’t work, you have every right to be upset about it.

      1. how does that statement make me a iphone fanboy? you must be one of them people “where’s my gingerbread update!?” if the phone doesn’t work, return it and get a different phone rather then crying about it.

        1. i’m not one to worry much about the gingerbread update… i’m one to care whether the phone works or not. when you buy a phone you expect it to work. when someone buys a phone, and it doesn’t work properly, they have every right to complain about it. that does not make them a crybaby. you posting on here crying about shutting the crybabies up make you sound more like a cry baby than those complaining about their phones not working.

  7. i have been playing with the new update for awhile now and it seems to be better however only time will tell. It does have a nice look to it though.

  8. This is AWESOME!!! Just upgraded, soooo smooth and much faster! Do it!!

  9. after playing with the update on my phone i have still had the phone going into a permanent sleep and still have to pull the battery to get it back on. i also have noticed my signal dropping while out n about when i should have a full signal. i haven’t had much else as far as issues go, however those don’t seem to be fixed.

  10. Great! Now I hope I’ll get the same for my O2X in a couple of weeks….
