European Atrix Finds Itself With an Unlocked Bootloader Thanks to Project Cheesecake

6

Thanks to a Phantip we just received, I am happy to announce that the Atrix modding community in the UK are rejoicing over a new turn in development for the phone. While not too many details were given, what we know is, thanks to “Project Cheesecake,” a user on XDA by the name of Stevendeb25 managed to pull an update for the Atrix from Orange UK and found an unlock capable bootloader. Yeah, pretty big news.

This now means that with a fully unlocked bootloader, Atrix users in the UK will finally be able to enjoy custom ROMs like Cyanogen Mod or MIUI and all the beautiful Android goodness they bring along with them. Bye, bye Motoblur!

Still no word or instructions on how to apply this update to your Atrix but we’ll keep you posted.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.
