This could be the most awesomely, hilarious, yet still serious title in the Android Sub-Reddit… ever. The OP is climbing Half Dome, a familiar granite rock formation in Yosemite National Park in California, and wants a way to record his ascent. His Galaxy S2 is the best video recording gear and he needs both hands free for climbing.
What’s a brother to do? The first thing that popped into my head, like one of the commenters, was this popular funny pic:
I can’t say I’m surprised by the lack of serious responses based on the thread title, but it seems this guy is looking for a genuinely helpful solution. If you’ve got any good (and serious) ideas, head on over to the thread on Reddit and help him out … or pop in for some Friday funnies.
That’s actually the first prototype Bluetooth headset. They weren’t always small.
I know someone who actually does that with his phone…calls it his redneck Bluetooth.
Dude needs to get a GoPro
Ditto.
Although, I can guarantee you that whatever they end up capturing (and it won’t really be much using either device) won’t be anywhere near what they think they’re getting. Some things are just better in person and people need to realize they should just be kept that way.
I first saw this like 10-15 years ago and thinks its just as funny today.
Agree, but the sub-reddit title/topic is brand new and just as hilarious.
There aren’t a new pictures of the guy because he died of a brain tumor.
This is the stupidest article ever. I want those 2 minutes of my life back, assholes.
You should get a car dock for the Galaxy S2 and attach just the holder to a helmet with screws or adhesive.
Sorry, this is a pretty lame article. That picture is like 15 years old. It WAS funny back in the day, but now…well, not so much. Being an avid snowboarder and mtn biker, anybody who is serious about recording their outdoor adventures knows that you can’t get quality video from a cell phone. Your best bet is to go with a helmet cam like a contourHD, GoPro or the one I use Tachyon, just to name a few. All of these are built to withstand pretty much anything you throw at it and will record decent high quality video. I don’t care how good you think the video on your cell phone is, it’s nothing compared to the cameras listed above, which are actually made to film action shots of all kinds.
Use your phone for **gasp** A PHONE… and the occassional birthday video and get a helmet cam for filming action sports.
The galaxy s II (his phone) records in 1080p at 30 fps…the videos from it I’ve seen look pretty dang nice…
That picture is still funny today…
THAT IS AN ERICSSON PHONE!!!!!
Wow, with as useless as this was I was sure Chavez would be behind this. Color me SHOCKED.
