White House App Puts the President in Your Pocket

24

OK, maybe you can’t literally get the president into your pocket (that’d be cool, wouldn’t it?) but you can keep up to date with the White House with their new Android app. You can watch live streams of big speeches events (such as the State of the Union Address), view photos, and view the latest news coming out of the White House. Doesn’t look too shabby, to boot. It’s a free app, of course, and can be found in the Android market.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Big deal. Wasn’t one of Obama’s campaign promises about more transparency within the White House and our government? Promising regular correspondence with the American people via online networking sites such as YouTube, etc. Having more information posted on the White House homepage for the American public to be more involved with how he runs the country? Didn’t work out so well like dozens of other broken promises. What happened to: Allow five days of public comment before signing bills
To reduce bills rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them, Obama “will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days.”
    not so much…

    1. Ummm… isn’t this an example of increased transparency right here?

      1. Facts are nothing but an obstacle that a good spin can smooth over :)

      2. A PR app isn’t transparency. Transparency would be consulting Congress and telling the American people before starting a third war.

    2. Yeah I guess putting the budget online for everyone to see isn’t transparent either. Go over to Fox, you’ll fit right in.

    3. Yea Obama sucks hasn’t done anything he promised need to get him out of office

      1. @Brian: I couldn’t agree more! We need someone who knows what they are doing and has some balls to make it happen. I like a president with conviction, not some puppet. He campaigns well and that’s it. I prefer to have someone who can get things done.

    4. Surprise! No once cares about your rant!

      1. And that’s the problem with this country, people like you who don’t give a damn that Obama has tripled the national debt and broken every major campaign promise. People like you don’t care he’s running this country into the ground, so long as it doesn’t affect you today in the moment, you could care less that our freedoms are being stripped away little by little. “TheRentIsTooDamnHigh” makes some valid points and I’m not for either party, but I DO care what my government (and my President) is doing to this country! And so should you!

  2. Who cares

  3. Spin it, Scotty C!

This app is “something” else ;)

  4. So having this app will make you just like a Washington lobbyist.

  5. Trolololololo

  6. I was hoping that the edition of DISQUS would get rid of commentors like this. Trolls that have no intent on getting the app or discussing the benefits of the app but simply to espouse ideological garbage that does no good to members on an ANDROID/TECH SITE.

Take that crap to CNN or the DrudgeReport.

  7. Mr. O has been in my pocket for two and a half years… ba-dum-bum

  8. He is in my pocket way too much as it is!

  9. Good one Joe! While the app may be a neat idea, I see enough of Obama on TV already. I sure don’t want WH spin in my world of Android. Dude has never stopped campaigning.

  10. I’ll check this app out definitely. Obama hasn’t done any worse than anyone in office before him. Plus it’s always hard cleaning mess left behind by the bushes.

  11. Kinda a waste of space on your phone. It would be akin to a GOP app on your phone. Do you really not know what one or the other is going to basically say about a given topic? Heck it wouldn’t even give you a head up when we went to war with another country.

  12. Who gives a flying fu@k

  13. Putting Obama in my pocket?? can’t…GEORGE SOROS already has Obama in his pocket.

  14. Woefully incompetent…delightfully condescending. I’ll pass!
