Meizu MX Appears in Image; Will Boast Incredible Specs

13

Meizu is one of those companies who aren’t well know but makes some great hardware. (And software, for that matter.) I was blown away by their Android-running M9 when it was first unveiled and I still hate the fact that I can’t get one for myself.

The folks at Meizu are looking to unveil a sequel to the M9, though, simply called the MX. (For 10, presumably.) It closely resembles the iPhone, but that isn’t the least bit surprising – their reputation for style has been closely followed with a reputation for being Apple copycats.

Still, what they’ve done here with both the hardware and software is beyond marveling. The MX is expected to still be running Android (2.3) by the time it comes out with Meizu’s heavily-customized user interface on top. It’s said to have a dual-core processor of some type, 16GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM.

All of this will come in at around $550 – a modest price for the package. (AT&T’s Motorola ATRIX 4G was priced around the same range with similar features.) Take a look at the shot above. [via Electronista]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I think they should go global, their products look good, but with a product page in Chinese…. I have no idea http://www.meizu.com/products/m9fun.html

      1. that doesn’t help…

  2. Sorry but that looks more like the white Samsung Galaxy S than any iPhone 4 I have ever seen.

    1. maybe ’cause the Galaxy looks like the iPhone ^^

  3. this is copy of SGS IMO

  4. That lockscreen looks a bit like MIUI

    1. actually, miui Copied MEIZU’s UI

  5. Why wont something like this come to verizon?

  6. A couple years ago, I received one of their MP3 players and it felt nice in the hand, but was the biggest piece of crap if you actually wanted to use it. I hope their newer stuff is more user friendly.

    1. really? their m6 music player is known for nice sound quality

  7. i went to their website and used chorme so it translated it for me, and it looks like it will have 3.5g which is hspda (do i hear tmoble in the future…)

still wouldn’t trade it for my virant with a ffc and cm7 on it!
(now if only i could get the ffc to run on cm7 i would be in heaven!)

  8. Hopefully it’s a 4-inch screen. I was using my friend’s iPhone 4 the other day, and now I think that 3.5-inch screens are pretty worthless. When a 4-inch screen can fit into the same formfactor of a 3.5-inch (plus a couple mm of width), there’s really no reason not to do it.
