By Right now if you’re running an unrooted Droid X then you’re sitting on Froyo – Android 2.2. But if you’re p3droid over at MyDroidWorld then you’ve already got Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on you Droid X featuring the most recent rendition of Motorola Blur.
First of all, pardon the animated GIF that makes me want to tear my eyes out- I’m only passing along the torture I endured. One member joked by renaming the combo of Gingerbread and BLUR: Gingerblur. Not only do I like the name, I’m thinking it’ll be a pretty tasty experience altogether.
I think we can all agree that MOTO BLUR has come a long way since it’s first days on the CLIQ. It’s still not perfect but it’s much improved and while it has its fair share of haters, it’s also got it’s fair share of supporters. In all honesty, it really just depends on your personal preferences. And personally, I’m eager to get this onto my own Droid X. The OP says this is NOT a port and will be releasing it shortly… we’ll keep you posted.

thought there was a locked bootloader on the X stopping these things? there is obviously a gap in my knowledge
he only problem with it, is if it slows down updates. But, if this comes out soon, it will be one of the first official Gingerbread ROMS. Get launcher pro or ADW if you do not like the interface.
That .gif is annoying as hell. Hopefully, the D2 will right behind it. What I would give for an unlocked bootloader on my D2. I bought an OG Droid from ebay for that very reason. I am assuming that he built this from a leak? I look forward to the next few months to see what kind of 2.3 ROMs will be cooked up for the DX/D2 if the 2.3 kernel has indeed been leaked.
Also, I dont know why the article says “Right now if you’re running an unrooted Droid X then your sitting on Froyo – Android 2.2” when it should say “Unless you decrypted the bootloader or have a leaked 2.3 kernel for the Droid X.” You can get all the themes and icons and make it look very gingerbread-ish. Athough that isn’t gingerbread..

Thunderbolt will be Verizon fastest and only phone to make calls when surfing the internet over 3g sorry about your luck MOTO X

@Robert Manser… I would be careful making any related comments shot the Thunderbolt… CAUSE AS IT STANDS THE THUNDERBOLT IS COMING TO EVERYONE WITHOUT SKYPE VIDEO CHAT OR HOT SPOT USE.. NOTHING TO BE HAPPY ABOUT… You never know what else STRANGE might happen before the launch.. VERIZON IS DOING THERE BEST TO PUT DOWN THE THUNDERBOLT JUST TO MAKE THE IPHONE 4 LOOK BETTER… PISS ON VERIZON…

@zed: The article clearly says that the OP says that this is not a port. It must mean that it is based on a leak by Motorola. Locked bootloader still stops you from custom ROMs.

Anyone else notice that the fifth image shows app groups labeled P3droid and Teamblackhat? Both would indicate to me that this is no official source. It may very well be a 2.3 leak, but somebody outside Moto has played with it.
@Richard Of course there’s no Skype video chat. That feature hasn’t been added by Skype. It has NOTHING to do with HTC or Verizon. The iPhone Skype app just recently came to have video chat capability.
@ksizzle9 There is NOTHING special about the Thunderbolt aside from Verizon’s 4g capability. Wait for the Motorola Bionic. Mind you my last three cell phones have all been HTC devices– Touch Pro, Hero & Nexus One.
Apparently an earlier posting describes the Thunderbolt to best the Bionic and Samsung as far as quadrant standard scores and neo gaming scores go. What happens when a cell phone version of Android is released that supports dual core processing? Honeycomb supports dual-core. Ice Cream Sandwich surely will.
Not sure why you would post gingerbread is here when it only applies to rooted users most are not rooted. Its the kind of reporting that leaves readers feeling the news source is not trustworthy

I think that for the droid x there is still a problem w/ the locked bootloader but you can get past that and have custom roms on your phone. I have liberty on my droid x and am loving it
Anyone else think this is being worked on for ONLY the X2 and not the 1st gen X? I don’t think they would change the ui so drastically and send out an update for older X users who have become accustomed to the ugliness that is MotoBlur. I used my X’s MotoBlur for about 5 minutes before I reactivated LauncherPro Plus.
Motorola doesn’t get it.
I will believe it when I see it, the from the look of the shots I’d much rather have the stock 2.3 keyboard I’m getting hooked on it. I also like the black way better than the white now
