ANZU-1

It was just last week that we saw our first leaked shots of the follow-up to the vaguely successful Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, the device codenamed “Anzu” and potentially to be called the X12. Now the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog has gotten their dirty mitts on some potential specs for what is shaping up to be a worthy sequel. Nothing mind-boggling, but take a look for yourself:

MSM7230 processor
8.1 MP AF with Exmor R (16x Digital Zoom, HD Video recording (720p/30fps) w stereo audio recording support, Pulsed LED, Face Recognition & Tracking in video recording)
Built-in 3.5mm (w/ adaptor)
Noise Suppression
4.2” FWVGA (854×480) Capacitive display (X.LED multi-touch display, Capacitive multi-touch, 16 Million display color)

HDMI (type D)
Compass
Size (125.0 x 62.5 x 8.7-10.9 mm)

Not too shabby, we suppose. Take it as a rumor for now, but we expect to hear a lot more about this one (and the Playstation Phone) over the coming weeks.

  1. This “w stereo audio recording support” and “4.2” FWVGA (854×480) Capacitive display (X.LED multi-touch display, Capacitive multi-touch, 16 Million display color)” this is the only thing interesting.

  2. “4.2” FWVGA (854×480) Capacitive display (X.LED multi-touch display, Capacitive multi-touch, 16 Million display color)”

    What’s an “X.LED”?

  3. 4.2″ screen come on 4″ MAX for goodness sake, how big do u think my pocket is…..

  4. yawn… another sony crapsson piece of shiiiiit

  5. MSM7230 processor is the same as the G2, I thought somewhere I heard Anzu was going bigger than that, oh well. Not a bad unit, as long as Sony doesn’t make it… ooh my bad.

  6. @paul

Many people own and love the Droid X’s 4.3″ screen. I love it myself, but I admit if Moto would have (bizarelly) offered both a 4″ and 4.3″ version, I would have went with the slightly smaller screen.

  7. Sony will release this in 2012 with android 2.2 on it, with plans to upgrade it to 2.3 within the year, right along side the psp phone. :P

  8. Your pocket is safe, in fact this device is smaller than galaxy s! Controll the specification!

  9. MSM7230 processor is the same as the g2, not bad Sony, planning on releasing this phone with a processor thats guaranteed to be 6 months outdated. I wonder if Sony is just building phones based -exactly- on what it sees come out. When will they be ahead of the curve, instead of two curves behind.

  10. Man, that is one fugly phone

  11. ELEVENTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Unless you hate yourself, do not buy this.

  13. i highly doubt that it will use the msm7230 given that its max clock speed is 800mhz and its been announced that gingerbread will be targeted at 1ghz to 1.2ghz processors. however this processor is quite good for its clock speed. but again sony are hell bent on actually trying with their next generation of phones. just look at the fact that they are going to introduce the psp brand to the phone world. it just shows that they are going to try and play this by their strong points

  14. yeh, why are phones so goddam big now?? few years back all the craze was to make them as small as possible.. now it seems they have to be as big as possible. i want a cool high spec phone but without needing to use two hands to operate it lol.
