LG Vortex Breaks Its Cover Again; Now Shows Software, Bing

Another shot of the LG Vortex for Verizon has eeked out again, but this time we’ve got a nice shot of the device’s homescreen. As we expected, Bing seems to be the device’s search and maps service of choice (though you can “fix” this using the Android market, if you want.) It’ll supposedly be shipping with Android 2.2, and aside from the revelation that there is on FM Radio on board (as was previously believed), that’s all we can gather from this particular leak. We’re sure we haven’t seen the last of this little bugger, but then gain, we said that about the Samsung Gem also headed for Big Red. Where is that thing, anyway?

  1. While the Bing fiasco seems to be fixable by users, I can not understand why manufacturers would agree to having Bing knowing that their products will be maligned for it by reviewers which will hurt sales.

  2. I think at this point, customizing Android and using Bing to search and using M$ maps as defaults is fine. But using vanilla Android or something close to it might be a better sell for these manufacturers. That “with Google” trademark on phones is really going to be a positive in the long run.
