Justin.tv Tunes-in to Android Live Streaming

23

Justin.tv wants to give Android live streaming a go, treading in the footsteps laid out by Ustream and Qik to deliver their own take on broadcasting video on the fly from your handset. The app launching today aims to make the process as simple and painless as possible — the main interface is made up of only three buttons. You hit record to begin broadcasting a video, press share to throw up a link to Facebook and Twitter that will also access an archive of the session after it has ended, and use the chat button to communicate with other watching your stream.

While the fundamental service offers nothing groundbreaking compared to what is already available for Android, optimizations in video streaming promise the best quality live feeds. Hardware video encoding for improved performance and battery life as well as bitrate that adjusts on the go according to your signal strength should provide a smooth and clear video experience. You can see a comparison example and get all the details in the video below.
