CDMA Samsung Galaxy i899 Storms to India

13

Those of you on India’s CDMA-based providers (and have been wanting an Android device) can look no further: Samsung’s bringing the Galaxy i899. The device is India’s first Android handset that has CDMA radios for use with some of India’s biggest carriers (Reliance being the first that would come to minds).

It’s not the most exciting device ever – it houses a 3.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 320×480, has a 3.2-megapixel camera, and an 800MHz processor – but it should be more than enough for anyone who has no choice but to use whatever CDMA-based networks they’re on. Check with your carriers for pricing and availability.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Looks exactly like a Behold 2 and soon will be abandoned like a behold2.

  2. The Indian CDMA users are kind of stuck as they have to wait for their carrier to release phones whereas the GSM users are happy to buy the latest phones imported from nearby Korea, Japan & China.
    Anyway, its a good move as reliance is one of the biggest carriers in India.

  3. it should be sold for around 10k or less

  4. Does this phone visually remind anyone in the USA of another certain phone from Samsung ? I know it does to me……I Behold it a 2nd time.

  5. That’s a nice processor for a phone with such a small screen and resolution. It’s got the same screen and res as a G1 and Magic/MyTouch3G, but the processor’s clocked about 2.5x higher!

  6. Behold II anyone?

  7. W AVAILABLEHERE IT IS

  8. Behold 2 without the cube and home button. So in other words Samsung is trying to see if Cube UI was the problem with the Behold 2 bad sales.

    I bet this has Twiz 2.0

  9. Also it packs a crappy camera

  10. @DanGrover: The Magic/G1 is clocked at 528Mhz. 800/528 != ~2.5.

  11. @Pix well put.

  12. I would Like to See lates handsets of HTC in CDMA which is somthing I don’t see happening for the next 1 year atleast…
