MyTouch Slide Video Review Gives Us 13 Minutes Of In-Depth Analysis

7

The first couple of extensive video reviews for HTC and T-Mobile’s latest MyTouch endeavor – the T-Mobile MyTouch Slide – have popped up on the web in the past few weeks. Thanks to all of the Froyo/Android 2.2 madness leading up to yesterday’s exciting keynote, we completely forgot about this little gem that some of you might be looking forward to.

Wirefly‘s review has been up for a couple of weeks now, and they get really deep and dirty with the phone. There are a few things that I’d like to point out from the review that clears up some questions a lot of people had. Firstly: that horrid contacts interface is indeed only for managing your MyFaves list. A lot of people weren’t impressed by the seemingly clunky and confusing interface, but it makes a lot more sense when you’re only using it to navigate a list of 5 people.

Another thing some people were worried about initially was the lack of “Scenes” in the main menu screen. Instead, this version of Sense includes a feature called “MyMode” which is essentially the same, except with a slight (and interesting) twist. You can change the theme of the Espresso UI as well as other elements of the OS such as default ringtones, your lockscreen wallpaper, and more (which can all be saved as separate “modes” so to speak).

You can also have your mode change based on the time of day or your location. Really exciting stuff that I hope HTC will use in all of their phones from now on (of course, MyModes sounds like it’ll be a MyTouch-exclusive feature, but here’s hoping we’ll get another variant of it in later versions of Sense).

There are some other goodies to be had from the review, as well, so be sure to check out the lengthy video if you’re interested. Also, make sure you check out another video review from YouTube user untouchable4rc if you’d like to get a good look at the phone from another angle.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. wow this phone isn’t half bad. time to give the wife a new phone this will work perfectly since she goes into myspace, facebook and twitter alot.

  2. funny you say that G1toN1 my GF has a G1 and i have a Nexus one And its time for me to get her a phone and this one will be perfect for her cause she has to have a full keyboard… and loves all those networking sites, oh that and i wont let her get a phone that is not Android its just not right…… This phone seems to be the perfect companion for a compantion of a nexus one user if that makes sense?

  3. lol I understand and feel the same way about giving her android only phones! It’s like if I gave her anything else it would be irresponsible on my part lol.

  4. looks like a great phone for sure! of course phones like the Incredible and EVO 4G have better specs but the Slide should sell very very well with Tmo customers!

  5. looks like a great phone! qwerty seems to do the trick for gaming and is well spaced for comfort and ease. i know the specs are not as “glorious” as the Incredible and the EVO 4G, but this phone will most def sell really well with TMO customers!

  6. this video helped me alot! i really want that phone even more now does anyone know if the keyboard is actually any good?

  7. Mytouch was a nice nefty phone, but as evry1 knows had its flaws, now it has a 3.5mm headphone jack which is a must on a phone, now it has a qwerty but now its fat and not amny people like their phones fat i think we have enought of fat in the world, the qwerty board shouldnt be rubberized becuase that will slow down txting speed, the 3.4 should have been 3.7 or somethin like the competition, now that bigger is better mytouch has evolve into somethin more desirable and looks very nice but i cant get around how thick it is, the 5mp is very welcome since all smarphones have 5mp or higher, the medium res screen was little disapointing but i can see why they didnt boost to 8mp, HD2 would be left behind not that it already hasnt since its so boring w Windows, Tmobile is feeling the heat now since next month is the relese of the most anticipated android smarphone in a while, yes folks is the Evo 4G which is exclusive for Sprint, atleast for now since Verizon will have a similar version known as the Droid Incredible, oh and please Android stop it w the dessert name (Froyo jaja frozen yogurt? really?) but time will tell when the new iphone 4 HD comes out and im guessin the Evo 4G wont be pleased, until next time I’m iKarlos and u been filled in.
