ViewSonic gTablet Overview
The g Tablet came big and hard. Another device thought to be an iPad killer, it has a 10.1 inch screen, a Tegra 2 processor, and Android 2.2 onboard, it very well should be.

Most reviews say no. What's your opinion?

ViewSonic gTablet Reviews
Laptop Mag "The Viewsonic G Tablet has a few things going for it. We like the long battery life, access to popular apps through Handango, and relatively low price. However, it's hard to recommend this slate because of its sluggish performance, limited Tap ‘n Tap UI, and uninspired design. We have heard about users hacking the device and installing regular Android 2.2 with good results. If you're up for that, you can turn the G Tablet into a better slate. However, we simply can't recommend something that performs poorly out of the box. If you're looking for a media slate, either spend the extra money for the iPad or Galaxy Tab, or wait until better tablets ship in 2011."

"One reviewer mentioned below, matthewfrank, likes the hardware, port locations and build but didn’t like the custom GUI job on top of Android. He notes web browsing is fairly quick, the touchscreen is responsive, the display is bright, HD video playback is great and the accelerometer kicks in quickly. No Marketplace but he’s able to sideload apps (Another user, r34p3rex has got Marketplace working, video below). Flash was not installed either so he couldn’t view YouTube videos. Ultimately he calls it a “toy” since it’s not useful for his workflow."

"The ViewSonic Tablet G is the first branded tablet we’ve seen more on the challenge of adjusting for a 10-inch screen Android. The result is not an iPad-killer, and not live up to the best that can offer Android – but it stands out as a unique alternative."

Android Central "Normally, none of us here would dare review a device we haven't put through the paces, but this one's a bit different, because this is much more useful before Black Friday than it would be after."
Laptop Mag "While it packs a powerful Tegra 2 processor and offers fantastic battery life, this Android tablet's custom interface and software dampen the user experience."

Viewsonic G-Tablet Review by The Digital Digestthe first real android tablet to land in the U.S. is the Viewsonic G-Tablet and it brings a lot to the table. It sports a Tegra 2 dual core cpu, a 10.1 inch screen (1024X600), 512 MB ram and 16GB of internal storage. Don't forget a front facing 1.3mp camera for video chat and an array of of ports as well as a microsd card expansion slot. It sounds great and at a little over $400 after tax, it seems to be a compelling choice for a first generation Froyo tablet. Watch my review to find out if the G-tablet delivers on its promise and potential or if its just another great concept that fails because of poor execution. Enjoy and thanks for watching,

You Can Put a Working GPS Radio Inside Your Viewsonic G-Tablet We’re not sure how popular this device is amongst the masses, but if any of you who bought it were annoyed by the lack of GPS radios inside, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Well, that’s if you’re a hardware engineer with some rad soldering skills. The guy who did it was [...]
