Samsung Vibrant Overview

The Samsung Vibrant is the T-Mobile USA version of the Samsung Galaxy S. It's rockin' a 4 inch Super AmoLED screen, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and a crazy 16gb of space for some sweet apps and games.

Also on board you'll find a 5.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus and zoom. You can also capture 720p video. Unfortunately, there's no led flash but that doesn't take away from the awesome quality that the camera provides.

This badboy also comes preloaded with James Cameron's Avatar and and an exclusive version of The Sims 3. The Samsung Vibrant dropped on T-Mobile USA on July 15, 2010.

Samsung Vibrant Reviews

CNET
"Sleek and fast, the Samsung Vibrant is one of T-Mobile's top smartphones for entertainment, but its feature set takes a toll on the battery life."
PhoneArena
"Now that the Samsung Vibrant is here and available to the masses, it easily washes away the bad after taste left in the wake of the Behold II last fall. T-Mobile customers won't want to miss out on this handset as it's easily by far the best Android offering available to them this summer."
InfoSyncWorld
"The Samsung Vibrant is no iPhone 4, but it was placed on the planet to offer T-Mobile users a viable alternative to the Apple lifestyle. The phone's brilliant AMOLED screen made movies enjoyable on a 4-inch screen. The navigational experience was quick and intuitive. The amount of preloaded content and downloadable applications and programs was bountiful. For the average T-Mobile user, the Samsung Vibrant is one of the best options currently to date."
Android Central
"In a word, yes. The Samsung Vibrant easily the best phone on T-Mobile at this point. Don't worry that it sort of looks like the iPhone. Don't worry that it "only" has Android 2.1 on it at the moment. (That will change.) Don't worry about Touchwiz. It's pretty useable. Samsung has brought a top-shelf phone to T-Mobile, and to Android. It pretty much puts the myTouch 3G line out to pasture."
Brighthand
"It says a lot when a device is mistaken for an iPhone these days. That much will draw some attention to the Vibrant -- more than its Galaxy S siblings will. And once people have it in hand, T-Mobile's very speedy 3G network is sure to keep those fans beaming about the Vibrant for the foreseeable future."
PhoneDog
"The Samsung Vibrant is the best phone T-Mobile currently sells. If you want a hard keyboard, consider myTouch 3G Slide instead. Otherwise, Vibrant is the way to go on T-Mo."
PC World
"The Samsung Vibrant boasts a gorgeous Super AMOLED display and a bevy of multimedia features, but some users might be disappointed by the absence of a flash on its camera."
Mobiledia
"The Vibrant is an enjoyable and easy-to-use smartphone, that should please most users with its responsiveness, great screen technology and speedy processor. The camera is good, but not quite great when compared with the ever-advancing technology now available on other smartphones."
MobileTechReview
"We applaud Samsung and T-Mobile's first carrier-offered Android superphone (T-Mobile USA never directly offered the Nexus One). It's very fast and slim and the display is fantastic. We like Samsung's customizations of Android, and we like T-Mobile's bundled applications and media. We'd like to see improved reception and a more stable cell radio, but the phone does a decent job with calls and data as it is. Though we prefer AT&T's added metal and fresh lines, the Vibrant is an attractive phone. If you're a T-Mobile customer looking for a high end smartphone with a good camera and lots of apps, the Vibrant is a great choice."
Phandroid
"I would definitely recommend this phone to someone looking for a great phone, with good features and a nice interface. The hardcore Android fans will probably still prefer the Nexus One, but the Samsung Vibrant should definitely hold its own pretty well."

Moneto sets the Galaxy S up for contactless payments, coming to more Android devices soon

Last month Moneto revealed plans to bring their NFC-enabled microSD card payment system to Android phones. Now the first compatible cards are available for purchase. There is a catch, however. While the Moneto system is technically capable of working with nearly any Android handset with a microSD card slot, the initial rollout is only compatible [...]

Cyanogen Mod for Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile Galaxy S) Support Dropped Due to 911 Issue

While the Samsung Vibrant may not be the newest kid on the block anymore, it’s still quite the capable device and one that has gotten tons of support through community development. One community ROM was the ever-so-popular Cyanogen Mod. I say “was” because support is no longer being offered for this device. Not, it’s n0t [...]

CyanogenMod 7 comes to a handful of new Samsung devices

The CyanogenMod family of devices is continuing to grow, with this week seeing official support of its first Samsung device, AT&T’s Captivate. But that wasn’t the only Sammy phone to gain the privilege. Also added to the ranks were the Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, and Nexus S 4G. ROMs for these phones haven’t reached official [...]

Samsung Vibrant/Galaxy S 4G Passes FCC With AT&T Bands; Manages to Win Best of Show at CTIA

It’s been discovered that Samsung has submitted another version of the Samsung Vibrant to the FCC with AT&T 3G bands suggesting AT&T could be preparing to migrate customers over to their network soon. This is unlikely right now considering the deal between AT&T and T-Mobile has yet to be approved and according to recent murmurs, [...]

CyanogenMod.com Debuts Device List, Releases Test Version for Samsung Vibrant

CyanogenMod is rocking the morning wire on this fine Friday. Firstly: they have a new phone portal that will show you a list of their officially supported devices. It’s a portal that’s much appreciated given the difficulty in finding out which devices Team Douche officially supports outside of most popular HTC devices. You can find [...]

Samsung Vibrant’s 2.2 Source Uploaded, Too

First we just got the source code for Sprint’s Samsung EPIC 4G froyo update and official word that it’d be rolling out February 21st, and now we’ve learned that Samsung has also uploaded the source code for T-Mobile’s Samsung Vibrant. Samsung and T-Mobile had already released an update for the Vibrant through Mini Kies, but [...]

Samsung Vibrant Froyo Update Available Only as an Optional Kies Update, Mandatory OTA Coming Later?

It looks like there is, in fact, a catch to the Samsung Vibrant update to Android 2.2 through T-Mobile. While an update is indeed being made available to users in the form of a build version KA6, word from inside T-Mobile is suggesting that this is an optional update coming via the Samsung Kies software, [...]

Android 2.2 Froyo Begins Rolling Out January 21st for the Samsung Vibrant at T-Mobile

All the speculation about the Android 2.2 update for the Samsung Vibrant — all the claims that Samsung and T-Mobile were holding it back intentionally or that T-Mobile didn’t want to pay Samsung for the update — looks like it is about to end. Speaking to PC Mag, chief marketing officer at T-Mobile Cole Brodman [...]

“My Phone” Rap Created By Class Action Lawsuit Filer [Samsung, T-Mobile, Dramaz]

This is the last thing I thought I’d see in the sudden uproar against Samsung and T-Mobile over the Vibrant debacle. (Rumors alleged that Samsung and T-Mobile were holding back the Android 2.2 update for the original Vibrant until after the as-yet unannounced Samsung Vibrant 4G has been launched.) The class action lawsuit was expected [...]

Samsung’s Response to Vibrant Froyo Debacle Won’t Ease Owners’ Frustration

Ever since a wild rumor surfaced claiming Samsung and T-Mobile are purposefully withholding the upgrade to Android 2.2 (Froyo) for the Samsung Vibrant in order to boost anticipation for the Samsung Vibrant 4G, the internet has been ablaze with hate only rivaled by the uproar over undelivered but promised updates for the Samsung Behold II. [...]

Ticked XDA Member Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Samsung, T-Mobile Over Froyo

Things just hit the fan (sort of): an XDA member – MicBeast, to be exact – has filed a class action lawsuit with firm Edelson against T-Mobile and Samsung over violating the law of “Unfair and Deceptive Consumer Business Practices” due to the lack of updates for the Samsung Vibrant. Here are his claims: they [...]

Rumor: Original Samsung Vibrant Froyo Update Being Purposely Held Due to Vibrant Plus

Ruh-roh. Some huge allegations are being thrown around regarding Samsung and their hard time of getting the upgrade to Android 2.2 out for T-Mobile’s original Vibrant. AndroidSpin is reporting that their source familiar with the situation has admitted that the original Vibrant’s Froyo upgrade is ready to be pushed out at any moment. Why the [...]

Get a Samsung Vibrant Free from T-Mobile with New Two-Year Contract or Extension

Yeah, it will still be a little while before the Vibrant and its brethren of US Galaxy S phones gets Android 2.2 (let alone 2.3), but that shouldn’t stop you from considering a great deal on the handset from T-Mobile. If you purchase the phone online with a new two-year contract or an extension of [...]

Samsung Pulls Android 2.2 Update for Vibrant

Galaxy S users just can’t get a break. If it isn’t annoying GPS problems, its usually something to do with their insistence on using the shoddy at best Samsung Kies software to install software updates. Or it is complains about the actual update itself, as has been the case with the recently released Android 2.2 [...]

T-Mobile Dropping Samsung Galaxy Tab and Vibrant Pricing

If you have been staving off a Samsung Galaxy Tab purchase hoping for some better pricing options, T-Mobile is making the idea a little bit easier to swallow with holiday price drop on the device. What once set you back $399 after a mail-in rebate is now reduced to $349. The $50 price cut carries [...]

Bell’s Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant Gets Froyo

The updates keep rolling in, and while no phone is yet to receive Gingerbread, another big-name phone is getting its fair share of Froyo. The Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant on Canada’s Bell is in the midst of receiving the Android update currently, as many users are reporting in. Luck seems to vary when accessing the [...]

Samsung on Galaxy S Gingerbread Possibility: Maybe, but Maybe Not

The first question that came to everyone’s mind when Gingerbread was finally announced a couple of days ago was “will Samsung be delivering it to users of their flagship smartphone?” And the skepticism and need to even ask this question is understandable: a lot of us haven’t even gotten Froyo yet. And there’s no clear [...]

Samsung Sold More Android Smartphones in Q3 than Anyone in America

Samsung’s finally atop the Android totem pole (at least here in the states) as they’ve just announced that Gartner’s Q3 research shows them as the number 1 provider of Android smartphones in the United States. I’m not surprised by the news considering you can find their current flagship device – the Samsung Galaxy S – [...]

Still Having GPS Issues with the Vibrant and Captivate? Samsung to the Rescue with Fix FAQs

The Samsung Vibrant and Captivate are all around great phones — the Galaxy S phones in general are — except for one teensy weensy little problem. The GPS has been known to go a bit bonkers, give inaccurate location, or just plain not work from (most of the) time to (most of the) time. A [...]

Canadian Galaxy S Phones’ Froyo Updates Windowed

While I’m sure most of you would much rather see your Froyo in downloadable, installable form, at least you Canadian Galaxy S-owning folks are getting a heads up to prepare for your incoming updates. Samsung Mobile Canada said via Facebook that the Vibrant on Bell and the Captivate on Rogers would both be getting the [...]
