Motorola Droid Review
The Most in-depth review of the Motorola Droid is the Official Phandroid Review. We overview the hardware, software, Google Navigation, Camera, Browser/Media and perform a Battery Life test. The definitive Droid review on the web!
The awesome display, the reactivity of the phones and Android 2.0 are its greatest assets. The Droid handset and Android 2.0 still need some polish and to the question "is it an iPhone killer?" I would say "no, it's not", but I would add "who cares?".
(4 out of 5 stars) "Despite some design issues and a couple of missing features, the Motorola Droid is the most powerful and fastest Google Android device to date. It fully embraces the openness of the Android platform and offers Verizon customers a smartphone that certainly rivals the other touch-screen devices on the market."
"Yes, the DROID is an excellent smartphone with many (if not all) of the features that a modern user would expect, and if you're a Verizon customer, there probably isn't a more action packed device on the network."
"It's this simple: If you don't buy an iPhone, buy a Droid. It's the best phone on Verizon, and with Android 2.0, the second best smartphone you can buy, period. It's flawed, deeply in some ways. But it's the second best phone around, on the best network around."
(3.8 out of 5) "Sure, the DROID has some shortcomings. That being said, it's a phenomenal media device, and is a great addition to Verizon's smartphone lineup. Battery life leaves a lot to be desired, but the 3.7-inch display, Android 2.0 software, and strong design more than make up for it."
(Highly Recommended) "There's no reason to beat around the bush here. I think the Motorola DROID is flat out the best consumer smartphone available on Verizon."
(4 out of 5) "One of the very best phones we've ever used, the Motorola Droid is set to slay all comers"
"All in all, the Droid is a truly outstanding smartphone, certainly the best one released this fall."

"We think if you're in the market for a new smartphone, the DROID is the best option available. We think if you can swallow paying Big Red their monthly rate or already a Verizon customer, it's an even easier decision. Seriously, if you want the best phone on the best network--the DROID is it. It's that simple."
"With a lot of attention in both ads featured online and television, the DROID is fast becoming a household name. We found very few faults with the device – specifically the minor choppy movements when you navigate through the three home screen pages. Its improvements in the hardware department make it a worthy addition to the Android lineup that's becoming more robust."
"Overall, I like the Droid. The hardware design is merely par for the course; it's well-made but has some rough edges. The hardware specs, however, combined with Android 2.0, makes this a good enough device to be a solid competitor to the iPhone 3GS."

Software Review
Phandroid takes a look at Android 2.0 on the Motorola Droid - the first phone to ever work with Android 2.X+
PC World
The first Android 2.0 phone impresses with a strong suite of Web features and a stunning 3.7-inch display, but some users might have trouble with the shallow keyboard.
"Other than my gripes about the keyboard, the Droid is a fantastic ph9one. If I wasn't on AT&T this is easily the handset I would get. The real hard decision for me would be between the Droid and the iPhone if they were both on the same carrier. I think I would choose the iPhone 3GS overall, but the Droid is a very close second."
"This isn’t the only Android phone coming to Verizon, but from what we’ve seen it’s the best so far and something you’re really going to want to try out in the store and get a feel for. It’s easily one of the fastest and smoothest phones we’ve ever used, easily the fastest Android device on the market (as of November 6th), and definitely the most impressive"

"The Droid isn't an iPhone killer. It doesn't have to be. The iPhone doesn't need to be "killed"—there's room for more than one smartphone in America. The Droid is the most exciting device on Verizon Wireless right now, and Verizon Wireless is where a lot of people want to be."
