Motorola CHARM Overview

The Motorola CHARM is the very first candybar QWERTY Android phone to hit the scene. This phone finally gives those last Blackberry users that are on the fence about Android to give it a shot.

The Motorola CHARM is not a powerhouse by any means, but it is the perfect option for people that are looking for a small form factor with a touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard. Onboard you'll find a 3MP camera that won't worky any wonders but certainly snaps decent photos. Add to that the social capabilities of MOTOBLUR and you've got a nice, compact and capable messaging Android phone.

The Motorola CHARM is exclusive to T-Mobile.

New Update in the Works for Motorola Charm, Testers Needed

No, Motorola hasn’t changed their tune about Android 2.2 on the Motorola Charm, but they are planning on issuing an update to the handset nonetheless. The update is currently in the testing phase, and Moto is seeking out 500 Charm owners to give it a go before its official release. The new firmware will enable [...]

Motorola Confirms CLIQ XT, Adds Flipout, Charm, i1 to List of Devices Not Receiving Android Updates

Hate to be all bad news bears this morning, but the Cliq XT won’t be the only device from Motorola’s lineup not receiving an Android update. Their Android Software Upgrade list has been updated accordingly. I suppose the good news is that the Motorola FLIPOUT, Charm, and i1 will be stuck at Android 2.1 as [...]

Motorola Charm, ZTE Micromax Andro A60 Launch in India

Two new entry-level Android handsets are headed to India, both of which attempt to cram as much value into a small package as humanly possible. The Micromax Andro A60 is a re-branded ZTE Penguin, and will retail for 6,999 INR (~$152). For the price you get Android 2.1, a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen, 3.2MP autofocus camera, [...]

T-Mobile Announces BOGO Smartphone Deal Starting Black Friday

Beginning this Friday (Black Friday for those that are counting) T-Mobile will be offering up a buy one get one free deal on select featured and “affordable” Android smartphone. New and existing subscribers who sign up for a family plan on a two-year contract and purchase the T-Mobile myTouch 4G, T-Mobile G2, or Samsung Galaxy [...]

Motorola Charm now only $49.99 at T-Mobile

The Motorola Charm launched at a pretty bargain-basement price in terms of Android smartphones on American carriers, but that doesn’t mean T-Mobile can’t push the cost down even further. What debuted for a meager $74.99 on a two year contract will now cost you all but $49.99 for the same today. For that price you’ll [...]

Motorola Charm is Rooted

Strike the Motorola Charm off the “To Be Rooted” list, because the deed has been done. Sure, the handset might be left feeling used and vulnerable, but isn’t that the same for everyone’s first time? XDA is home to the people responsible who deployed an updated Universal Androot hack to achieve Superuser access. This root [...]

Motorola Charm for T-Mobile is Now Available For $75

Just in time for Back to School sales, the T-Mobile Motorola Charm is now available for sale. This follows a series of delays that ended up giving us a new rumored date of August 25th. You can grab the device in two colors – Golden Bronze and Cabernet – for $74.99 after rebates and discounts [...]

Motorola Charm Coming August 25 for T-Mobile with “Affordable” Pricing

For those eager to get their hands on the Blackberry-esque Motorola Charm on T-Mobile, a tweet sent out by T-Mobile USA has made it known that your day is August 25th. The tweet didn’t get specific about a price, though it does generalize it as “affordable.” How affordable? Well we have seen various reports showing [...]

TELUS Launches Motorola Charm

Heads up to all our Maple-Leafing Android lovers: the Motorola Charm is now available at TELUS. It costs $29.99 on a 3-year contract up to $249.99 without a contract. Be wary of that 3-year deal; with the current speed of mobile phone progress your Motorola Charm could be an antique by 2013. BlackBerry lovers with [...]

Motorola Charm Priced, Will Cost $189 with Contract

I know, I know. $189.99 for the Motorola Charm on contract (after mail-in rebate) is just a bit hard to believe. And we mean hard to believe in the not-so-good way. Considering ten bucks more could net you the Samsung Vibrant, it’s hard to see how the candybar form factor with full QWERTY keyboard could [...]

Would You Buy the Motorola Charm Without a Contract for $250?

Well look what we have here. The Motorola Charm seems to have charmed (puns!) its way onto Best Buy Mobile’s website and is being listed for $249.99 and “coming soon”. We can’t imagine this would be the two-year agreement asking price: the highest of high-end smartphones these days don’t go past $200 when you sign [...]

Dummy Phones Galore: The T-Mobile Motorola Charm’s In-Store Marketing Tool

Dummy phones are quite usel– no, I take that back. They’re marvelous tools to see how a device would fit in your hand and to see if the form factor is right for you. That said, they’re still quite useless (most retail locations for most carriers offer you the chance to play with an actual [...]

Motorola Charm Free on Family Plan Activations?

T-Mobile’s free Motorola Charm special might be extending well past the back to school promotion we heard about not too long ago. Engadget‘s received a poster shot showing the Motorola Charm (alongside Samsung’s latest round of QWERTY feature phones) as a messaging phone. According to the poster, messaging phones are free when they’re activated on a [...]

Rumor: Motorola Charm Release Delayed Due to Battery Issues

A surprising amount of people were excited about the release of the Motorola Charm through T-Mobile. The Blackberry-esque form-factor would appeal to a select group of people while the device’s mid-ranged internals would go easy on the pockets (they’ll supposedly be offering the device for free in a Back to School sale). One benefit of [...]

Detailed Specs for the Motorola Charm

Not charmed with the Motorola Charm just yet? Maybe a look at the specs in detail will do a little to change your mind about this mid-range phone with full QWERTY keyboard. For all intents and purposes, the Charm sits nicely in with other phones in its range, but certain specs like a 600MHz Cortex-A8 [...]

Now we are getting the Charm’s first official promotional video. Check it out and see if this one fits your fancy. We can say [...]

Confirmed through the official presser are the additions of a back-side trackpad, Android 2.1 with the latest version of MOTOBLUR, a 2.8-inch [...]

After receiving a pretty convincing shot of the device in the wild, TmoNews pulled some more information out from their source regarding what’s going on with the Motorola Charm behind the scenes. Aside from the already-confirmed addition of Android 2.1, we’ve learned it will use a 600MHz processor (not sure which architecture is being used) [...]
