HTC EVO Shift 4G Overview

The HTC EVO Shift 4G is an intermediate release in the EVO series. It's a phone aimed at the entry level market and while it may not be as powerful as its predecessor, it's no less deserving of its name. The EVO Shift 4G is essentially Sprint's version of the Desire Z, with HTC Sense running on top of Android and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

The Shift also has 4G radios inside, a necessary component to a phone that's part of their flagship lineup. The HTC EVO Shift 4G has been available since January 9th, 2010.

HTC EVO Shift 4G Reviews

Phandroid
Sprint released the follow-up to their best-selling phone – the HTC EVO 4G – on January 6th. It’s the HTC EVO Shift 4G, and it makes a very strong case to be a viable alternative for those who can’t live without a hardware keyboard.
CNET
For those who crave a physical keyboard, the HTC Evo Shift 4G is a solid choice with a more wallet-friendly price than its 4G competitors, and it doesn't sacrifice too many features.
Phone Dog
It's a really impressive device and is a nice alternative for those that don't need the forward-facing camera and large profile that the EVO 4G has. The Shift is nice as it's just as fast - faster, according to speed tests - but offers a smaller form factor and better battery life as a result.
Android Central
We couldn't have asked for a better way to review Sprint's new EVO Shift 4G than by battle testing it at CES in Las Vegas. Four days of use among more than 100,000 nerds, in press conference after press conference, with smartphone news breaking every minute (or so it seemed).
Android Community
The HTC EVO Shift 4G finally is available to the masses and you’re probably wondering if it’s worth the upgrade. The phone seems to be marketed as a high-end entry-level device, and from our time with the device over the last week or so we’re ready to give it the full Android Community review.
Phone Arena
Attempting to discretely differentiate itself from that, the HTC EVO Shift 4G trudges along in bearing its former's name, but it manages to shift the attention onto its physical landscape style keyboard.
PCMag
The HTC EVO Shift 4G is a powerful, less costly alternative to the EVO 4G on Sprint, and gives hardware keyboard fans another choice besides the Samsung Epic 4G.
PCWorld
Available starting on January 9, the Shift 4G is a follow-up to last year's popular HTC EVO 4G, the first 4G phone on Sprint's WiMax network, and is in some ways a smaller version of its brother.
Ubergizmo
The HTC EVO Shift might have the same “family name”, but it’s a different beast: it doesn’t have the large (and comfy!) screen of the EVO 4G, but it comes with a full sliding QWERTY keyboard, one of the best yet.
Pocket Now
The HTC EVO Shift 4G running on Sprint's WiMax network may seem logical to compare with the first HTC EVO 4G, but to compare the two would be like comparing pineapples to cumquats.
