HTC Desire Z Overview
The HTC Desire Z is another phone in HTC's Desire line up. It sports a 3.7 inch screen, a 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, 1.5 GB of internal space for apps, and a full QWERTY slide out keyboard. tt's a Sense device and was the first one with Qualcomm's 800MHz Scorpion CPU, one that's said to be very overclockable and powerful despite its clock speed.
It was one of HTC's first phones to get the newest version of Sense that added HTCSense.com integration. The Desire Z is a Canadian and European phone, but there are USA counterparts with different names and software. The Desire Z is available from a number of carriers worldwide and can usually be had very cheap due to the length of time it's been out (since November 2010).

HTC Desire Z Reviews
CNet "The HTC Desire Z adds a high-quality, comfortable keyboard to an attractive touchscreen phone that's rammed with features. The keyboard makes the phone significantly bulkier than it would otherwise be, but those who are terrified of touchscreen typing should check it out."
ZDNet "The HTC Desire Z is a relatively bulky and weighty smartphone thanks to its slide-out keyboard. We found the on-screen landscape-mode keyboard just as easy to use as the physical keyboard. Not everyone will agree, though, and we suggest you try out the device before buying."
GSM Arena "It’s been over a year since HTC gave us a QWERTY messenger. But they still have it in them obviously. The Desire Z is a solid smartphone package with premium finish and a keyboard to be proud of."
Engadget "We've already given the hardware plenty of love in our G2 review, but let us reiterate here that HTC's yet again done a very good job with crafting the Desire Z into a solid and professional piece of kit. Even after days of playing with the device, we're still impressed by the cunningness of the z-hinge -- despite its minor flaws -- that significantly improves the typing experience. Given the choice, we'd probably choose the Sense-laden Desire Z over the G2 for the added value without sacrificing much performance and battery life, although HTC will need to have a look at some of the aforementioned software bugs. Otherwise, this is pretty much the best landscape QWERTY Android phone you can get right now."
TechRadar "Whether you like the HTC Desire Z or not is will depend on your love for a physical keyboard. If you want one desperately and love Android with a fiery passion, then the Desire Z is for you." However, if you can take it or leave it, we'd suggest you look elsewhere. While the Android 2.2 OS works well and plays nicely within the phone, you're carrying round a rather substantial amount of extra heft with the Desire Z. The new HTC Sense is a step forward in terms of an impressive UI, and the addition of things like Locations can only be a boon. It's a decent attempt at bringing it all together in one tidy package - we just wish the hinge was a little more solid, as other than that, it's a top phone.Read more: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/htc-desire-z-717296/review?artc_pg=14#ixzz17HudQ0dj
"The HTC Desire Z is one of the only two handsets so far with the new version of Sense UI, and deserved our attention, even just for that. HTC didn't stop here to make it stand out in the Android crowd, however, and added a physical keyboard with clever, if somewhat pointless, Z-hinge mechanism.Wrapped around in brushed aluminum, with soft-touch coating where needed, the HTC Desire Z is certainly a looker - a rather heavy one, however. The physical keyboard is not perfect, but it is better than most on this rare breed of Android handsets, which have side-sliding QWERTY keyboards. The new HTC Sense, though, is the feature that can take your breath away here. It offers a myriad of functionalities and customization options, wrapped up in rich colors, and beautiful animations. The next-gen Snapdragon chipset ensures flawless performance, while the new additions to Sense UI, such as cloud-based services to manage your phone, and the Locations app with its offline navigation capabilities, added to our growing impression that the HTC Desire Z is currently the best Android handset with a physical keyboard outside of the US.Another high-end alternative with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Froyo, would be the yet unreleased Motorola MILESTONE 2. If you are a Symbian fan, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro has one of the best physical keyboards we've tried on a mobile, and shoots HD video at 30fps as well."
PocketLint "The HTC Desire Z is a welcome addition that strengthens HTCs Android offering, bring the QWERTY option that is too often over-looked. It squares up nicely against the Motorola Milestone 2 which will also be hitting shelves shortly, so we'll have a real scrap on our hands, with two Android 2.2 devices pitching HTC Sense against Motoblur, although the Milestone 2 is the more powerful device."
