A short review of the $35 Aakash/Ubislate tablet

by Raveesh Bhalla on April 15th, 2012 No Comments

tl;dr: It’s a waste of money at even $35 When the Indian Government announced the $35 Android tablet, the Aakash, last year, heads turned. And although just about everyone expected it to be pretty bad, there were a few review reviews that said it’s not too shabby (*cough* Gadget Guru *cough*). I got a chance [...]

by Raveesh Bhalla on April 7th, 2012 No Comments

There are more than a few "cheap" Android tablets available in my country, India, where by and large price is one of the most important factors when it comes to purchasing gadgets. After all, we’re the country of the $35 Aakash tablet, which is revered by quite a lot of people (personally, I’m quite a [...]

by Rob Jackson on February 28th, 2012 No Comments

Most of MWC’s major announcements have already been had, but tucked in the Fujitsu booth we found an Android prototype that made quite the impression on us thanks to an obnoxiously sick set up specs: Quad-Core NVIDIA Tegra 3 Processor, Android 4.0 ICS, 4G LTE connectivity, 13.1MP camera, and oh yeah- it’s waterproof. We didn’t [...]

by Rob Jackson on January 9th, 2012 No Comments

There are tech lovers all over the world, but we’re often given very different gadgets, services, and opportunities depending on where we live. One key example is Mobile Digital TV which has long been available in Asian Markets but has evaded American consumers for quite some time. This year, the Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) [...]

Kinzo Embraces Android Spirit, Taking $459 Orders and Free Opinions

by Rob Jackson on November 11th, 2011 No Comments

Several months ago we saw a rather unknown company called Verzo pop up promising a new phone called the Kinzo. They went from not having a website to launching a product pretty darn quick, and we may be more excited about their approach to the handset game than the sexy handset they’ve designed. After buying [...]

Pantech Vega LTE Shows Off Touchless Gesture Controls – Apple’s Legal Team Lies In Wait

by Chris Chavez on October 31st, 2011 No Comments

Touch screens? That’s soooooo 2007. Say hello to the Kinect-ish gesture controlled Pantech Vega LTE for Korea. The device was announced back on the 6th with some pretty hefty specs and even without the knowledge of touchless gesture controls, the Vega LTE already had me drooling. The video below shows a Korean woman covered in [...]

Small and Thin Android-based MGX Netbook by NEC Shown

by Quentyn Kennemer on October 3rd, 2011 No Comments

Android netbooks seem to be on the rise and NEC wants to cash in early, it seems. This one doesn’t look nearly as good right now as the hybrids from ASUS – the Slider and the Transformer – but its thin and small design could be popular with those who want sort-of a traditional computing [...]

by Chris Chavez on August 13th, 2011 No Comments

Looks like Verizon will be getting some Pantech love in the near future as revealed in this FCC filing today. Pantech hasn’t made much of a splash in the Android scene here in the states but they may be trying to change that thanks to this Verizon 4G LTE enabled device. Still no word on [...]

Pantech’s Vega Racer Shows Up in Google Phone Gallery

by Chris Chavez on June 21st, 2011 No Comments

Google has just added 2 new phones to their Phone Gallery in which they showcase some of the best (and worst) Android has to offer. Normally, I try to avoid posts on Android powered phones from non-English speaking countries like Korea but these 2 Pantech devices look so nice, I had to think twice. The [...]

by Rob Jackson on May 3rd, 2011 No Comments

It ain’t Honeycomb – heck it ain’t even Gingerbread – but the Viewsonic Viewpad 10 update to Android 2.2 will certainly be welcomed by everyone who owns the device. The upgrade also makes the Viewpad 10 instantly more attractive to potential buyers as the device was previously running Android 1.6. Don’t forget this bad boy [...]

by Rob Jackson on January 13th, 2011 2 Comments

Like many Android products at CES 2011, the 35phone seemed unfinished and unpolished, but the concept here is rather neat. The 35phone itself seems just like another Android Phone, but with the accompanying dock and bluetooth tablet, you can actually use your phone from the larger screen. Here it is only seen working with a [...]

by Rob Jackson on January 13th, 2011 6 Comments

There were a lot of cruddy tablets at CES 2011 but the Hanvon HPAD was not one of them. The versions they had for testing were still beta builds, so we can expect improved performance once the device launches in July. But out of the gate, I really liked how Hanvon optimized Android for their [...]
