Apple’s MagSafe hilariously works with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2

When Apple announced its new iPhones, they also announced a new MagSafe wireless charger. This works through the use of magnets that clips onto the back of the iPhone and charges it wirelessly. It was seemingly designed to be an exclusive to the iPhone 12, but as it turns out, Android phones might be able to take advantage of it as well.

According to the folks at Android Police, they have discovered that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is actually able to take full advantage of Apple’s MagSafe charger, which is hilarious on a couple of fronts.

For starters, Apple and Samsung are known to be long-time rivals. Secondly, Samsung had previously mocked Apple for not including charging accessories with the iPhone 12, and to add salt to injury to the second point, Apple’s so-called exclusive MagSafe charger works perfectly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.

It would appear that due to the use of magnets in the Galaxy Z Fold 2 found in the hinge and sides of the phone, that it actually allows the MagSafe charger to connect to the phone rather perfectly and hold itself in place.

We should point out that the MagSafe charger is essentially a Qi-compatible wireless charger with the addition of magnets to hold the iPhone in place. In theory, any Qi-compatible device will work with the MagSafe charger, but not all might benefit from the magnetic clip.
