Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X getting two extra months of security updates

0

Support for the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X was supposed to end in September 2018, but now it looks like these devices will get security patches beyond their original schedule.

Both Nexus devices have had their fair share of problems since release, which Google seemingly acknowledged when it offered out-of-warranty Nexus 6P owners a Pixel as a replacement. After news of the replacement became widespread, Google changed the policy to no longer offer the replacement.

While Google may no longer be offering Pixel replacements for the Nexus 6P, it’s nice to see those devices getting supported beyond their original schedule. Owners of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will receive their final security patch updates next month.
