Latest OnePlus 3/3T beta allows you to run multiple versions of the same app

0

OnePlus is rolling out a new OxygenOS Open Beta update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The update includes the usual improvements and bug fixes, but also an interesting new feature called “Parallel Apps.” At first, it sounds like a multitasking feature, but this is something completely different.

Parallel Apps allows you to run multiple versions of the same app. It essentially clones the app into separate instances. The apps can then run completely independent of each other. You could sign into one Instagram with one account and the cloned version with a separate account. Instead of switching accounts in the same app, you would have two apps.

There are apps that can perform a similar function, but having it built into the phone is a better option. Most people probably won’t use Parallel Apps, but it’s really cool for those of us that are power app users. Find details for the update below.
