Essential Phone could be close to shipping out

0

After a series of annoying delays, it seems there may finally be some light at the end of this long tunnel for the Essential phone. A new listing for the device has appeared on Best Buy.

Best Buy has it up in both Sprint and Unlocked varieties with a starting price of $699.99. Of course, you can’t actually buy the phones yet as Best Buy only shows them as “coming soon.” As such, we also don’t have any shipment date expectations.

But this does at least mean time hasn’t stood still at Andy Rubin’s startup, so that’s a Plus. They’ll need nothing but good vibes from here on out, with lukewarm impressions of the device seeding the internet and news about top executives fleeting seemingly being the norm now.

Haven’t heard of the Essential phone yet? It’s a rather unique device, with a distinct bezel-less design that has the 8MP front-facing camera splitting the middle of its 5.7-inch IPS display. The device comes with a Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4GB of RAM for assured performance, and also has dual 13MP cameras.

There’s also an expansion bay for modular accessories, such as its 360-degree camera you can pick up alongside it.

We’re still not sure if this smartphone is going to change the game the way Andy Rubin hopes it will, but it definitely hasn’t failed in keeping our attention. We’ll let you know the moment this thing goes from borderline fantasy to essentially in your hands.
