When it comes to rooting and applying custom ROMs, an unlocked bootloader is one important step before being able to do that. Now, owners of the European LG G6 (H870) can use LG’s official bootloader unlock tool to make this happen. However, there are some notes to be aware of:
- This only applies to the European H870 model.
- Your warranty is voided the moment you unlock your bootloader. Anything you do to your phone is at your own risk.
- The bootloader process cannot be reversed, so think carefully about whether you should do it before going through with it.
Although this only applies for the European model, there’s hope that those in the rooting community will be able to work their magic for the US variants. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see a Pixel-like experience combined with the beautiful hardware found on the G6?
