Android 7.1.1 Nougat is rolling out to owners of the Nokia 6

0

Back in January, Nokia burst back onto the smartphone scene with the Nokia 6. Now owned by HMD Global, Nokia has been looking to get back into the smartphone game, and the Nokia 6 was so popular that the device sold out in just 1 minute.

Since then, HMD Global and Nokia have introduced the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, with all devices expected to launch in North America. The Nokia 6 launched in China a few months back with Android 7.0 Nougat in tow, but it seems some users are starting to see a significant update.

The latest update to the Nokia 6 brings the device up to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Considering that Android 7.1.2 Nougat just started rolling out to Pixel and Nexus devices, this is a pretty good turnaround for Nokia to be updating its latest device.

Despite the fact that the Nokia 6 will launch in the US, this device definitely isn’t flagship-caliber, so we’re still hoping to see a true flagship from the HMD-owned Nokia. In the meantime, we’ll keep waiting impatiently for an update from the OEM.
