Google has started rolling out 4K content to the Google Play Movies library. This move has been expected for some time, and then was expedited with the release of the new Chromecast Ultra. Now, there are a few movies that are being made available for purchase from the Play Store.

As you would expect, the UHD/4K version is fairly pricey, coming in at $24.99, which is almost double the price of the standard HD version. According to one Redditor, movies that have already been purchased can not be upgraded or re-purchased at this time. However, Google has been made aware of the issue and will be working on a fix.

We will probably continue to see more content rolled out over the coming weeks, but at least we know Google has started to get the ball rolling. Let us know if you come across any issues or find new content that is being upgraded to 4K on the Play Store.
