The Galaxy S8 could feature an all new fingerprint recognition technology

0

No matter how much Samsung tries to prevent leaks from happening, it seems that there is a new rumor about the Galaxy S8 at least once or twice a week. The Galaxy S8 is shaping up to be a complete overhaul from what Samsung was producing with the previous iterations of the Galaxy S series.

We’ve already seen rumors which suggest that the Galaxy S8 will include a 5.5-inch 4K display, 6GB of RAM, an iris scanner, and a dual-camera setup. This latest rumor suggests that the Galaxy S8 will be the “world’s first smartphone to feature optical fingerprint recognition technology.”

By using this new optical fingerprint scanner, this would remove the need for a scanner to be placed below the home button. Therefore, Samsung could realistically get rid of the home button once and for all and opt for either an on-screen nav bar or capacitive buttons on the bottom.

If implemented, Samsung would definitely be leading the way and be the trendsetter for this new technology. Plus, I think it’s time for Samsung to say goodbye to the tactile home button and get with the times.
