Google rebrands its Cast application as Google Home

0

Once the Google Home is released, we’ll need a new app to be able to control the latest device from Google. Well, it seems that Google has repurposed its “Cast” application for this purpose.

The application was updated today and features a redesigned interface along with an all new icon. However, the weird thing with this icon is that unlike the other new icons that are being introduced along with Android 7.1, the new Home icon is not rounded.

As for the rest of the interface, the search bar at the top has been removed as Google has opted to use a FAB in the bottom right-hand corner. Additionally, instead of three different tabs at the top to switch between “What’s On”, “Devices”, and “Get Apps”, the new application just features just two tabs: “Watch” and “Discover”.

The update is rolling out in droves to various users, but you can head over to APK Mirror and download the update now.
