Android 7.1 will be coming to Nexus devices before the end of the year

The Pixel and Pixel XL will both be running Android 7.1 Nougat when they are officially released in a couple of weeks. The question for those of us with Nexus devices is when will we get the opportunity to get our hands on the latest version of Nougat.

According to Android Police, Nexus devices and the Pixel C tablet will be receiving the Android 7.1 developer preview “before the end of the calendar quarter (aka before 2017). Unfortunately, there will be some features that can be found on the Pixel and Pixel XL that won’t make their way to Nexus devices or the Pixel C.

It’s unknown which Nexus devices other than the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will receive the update to Android 7.1. It’s also unknown which of the Pixel-exclusive features will not make their way to the Nexus devices. We can assume that the Pixel Launcher and redesigned nav bar buttons will not be coming to older devices, as well as the fact that the new “Support” section within the Settings will not be coming either.

We’ll just have to wait (im)patiently to see what Google decides to give Nexus owners when it comes to Android 7.1 Nougat.
